Most cyclists I've met are just pretentious liberal morons, and expect everyone else to cater to them, whether it's hogging the road or causing a scene doing something else. Nothing wrong with cycling, but holy sht I rage at how flat out moronic most of them are.
You don't lump all bad motorist together do you? There are some bad cyclist out there too (I scold them as much as you do) but flesh and blood is no match for 2000+ lbs of metal. Most have respect for motorist. Just obey the laws and cut them a little slack.

Remember, for ever cyclist you see there's one less car on the road you have to content with.

If you lived in a metro area like phoenix which has well over 200 miles of bicycle paths (with no cars on them) and you just drive everywhere instead, you'd be a real piece of chit.

Not to mention our weather is 10/10 for riding 8 months out of a year.

I agree with some points you said, but not all.

I ride my bike alot too, but i only use the main roads when it's free or if the curbs are busy with people. If the curbs are empty i use both the roads and the curbs to avoid hassling drivers and pedestrians.

As someone who cycled 100 miles a week to the office, I can tell you it gets old real quick. I only did it for about 6 months and I was nearly killed on several occasions, including going over the bonnet of a car being driven by an oblivious, cig smoking slob.

Brb - taking the skin off your knuckles trying to fix a puncture at the side of the road in the dark, howling wind and rain at 6:00 AM
Brb - other mechanical problems
Brb - taking 30 minutes getting into your cycling gear/waterproof
Brb - drenched with sweat even when it's freezing
Brb - homicidal motorists
Brb - cycling into 70 mph winds at 5mph for mile upon agonizing mile
Brb - can't nip to the supermarket in lunch break
Brb - had a chitty day then look outside and you see it's a hurricane outside and you have to ride home
Brb - want to pop to the dentist's on way to work? 15 mile detour and extra hour necessary
Brb - all love of cycling you ever had has been leeched from your soul
Brb - hate cycling now

I dont think its bad to cycle to work but i dont understand why people have to wear the whole get up like they are some new kind of Greg Lemond.

Just some shorts and a tee short work just fine.

My commute in is mostly on bike paths but I do ride on the road in the city. Fear not though, I'm the one overtaking cars stuck in traffic, not the other way around

I suppose a football player could still play wearing a pair of khakis and penny loafers, but it would look a little funny, don't you think?

Every sport has its uniform to make the game safer and/or more efficient, but as you imply not everyone the mounts a bicycle need be so particular.

If you open a door, you're the one throwing an obstacle out. If you open your door on someone, whether bicycle, car or pedestrian, in Canada it's your fault and I'm sure it is in the US too.

I've been biking to work. In my city, downtown is by the water, which is downhill, so I don't sweat on the way to work. And then my ride home is a 20 min ride uphill vs 20 to 40 min drive back cause of the traffic.
