How long did it take for you to move up in the business? You said you came in with a college degree - did that give you an advantage or did you still start making minimum wage and work up?

Not my hotel, but one of the best stories I've ever heard. We use this in training to emphasize the need for guest privacy.
>Guy checks into hotel with his side chick. Call him Mr. Smith
>Mrs. Smith comes to the hotel front desk, says she's checking in & her husband arrived before her
>Computer says there are two people staying in the room. She has the same last name, same address on file etc
>Mrs. Smith gets a key to the room
>Mrs. Smith sneaks into the room while Mr. and his sloot are out
>Mrs. Smith sets up a VIDEO CAMERA IN THE ROOM
>Mrs. Smith gets video of infidelity, divorces him, gets it all
>Mr. Smith sues the hotel for letting a non-registered guest in his room
Vicious.

When I was front desk at hampton inn back in college, had a couple stay in the room.. they were on some serious drugs all night, come to find out that the boyfriend locked his girlfriend in the hallway in the morning somehow. I go up to the floor where their room was and she's staying butt ass naked, had other guests complain that she was naked and little kids running around.. craziness

Did the front desk workers invent the $20 trick? Where a guest will give you a $20 for a "free" upgrade?

I used to have a fantasy as a teen to "sleep" naked with the covers halfway off my body so when house keeping comes in she sees the surprise and gets seduced.
Is it true that if u expose yourself to a maid, they will write your name down and after 3 strikes the cops get involved?

If I didn't have an easy way to upgrade them, I'd give the $20 back the same way they slipped it to me. Had a coworker who'd keep it tho lmao.

We just throw it out. When people are smoking on their balcony by the pool etc, and it's really obvious what they're doing (everyone can smell it etc) we'll go up and tell them "Sorry, but this is a non-smoking room. Especially THAT kind of smoking, you understand?" Have only had to get the cops involved once.
We did have a guy come screaming that their housekeeper stole his girl's necklace from their room, and he absolutely REEKED of pot. Asked if we could go in the room to search for it (lol), he refused. Politely took his info, but also asked that he call us if it did turn up. He called 5 minutes later to say it was sitting on the desk in the room.

It's one thing if you're getting out of the shower and didn't realize somebody was in the room, but flashing is a great way to get yourself a visit from security. We get a lot of euros and some countries seem much more relaxed about nudity.
We get a lot of that crap in the spa especially.

how can someone legitimately ask for a free upgrade?
how often are sheets really cleaned?
did you ever know of any worker digging through luggage while cleaning the room?

Worked maintenance at a Resort. Looking back it was pretty fun for a bit. I'd work at a hotel again if given the chance tbh

But at the end of the day her name wasn't on the room, she shouldn't have a key. My mom once had my (senile at that point) grandpa walk in on her because they gave him the wrong room key, on a VERY common last name. She got her stay comped - in this case it was her father but could just as easily have been Chad and Jamal, know what I mean?
