I am interested to see what the alien refugees got up their sleeve, and what they have in store for their human hosts...
I'm currently at the scene with they are moving them from District 9 to another location.

Remember that short-lived forum with a bunch of Miscers created so they could jerk each other off of how awesome Guardians of the Galaxy 2 was and keep quoting movie lines?
And then other miscers came in and chit all over their forum and pointed out retarded, cringey flaws of the movie and it killed their forum.
Then they realized those miscers don't care if you neg them. And it quickly died.
And then the next day the same miscers tried to do it again only to get them same result and it died just as fast as the last one. lol

The prequel was a necessity. That is what ppl fair to see. It gave a new direction for Alien. How long can you repeat the new Xenomorphs vs humans thing before it gets repetitive? It gave the films a more philosophical back story that was necessary to produce new movies. Ppl should quit bitching

RT reviews not looking great. Prometheus got 73%, and this one is sitting at 75%, and dropping by the day (was 82% early this week)
Either way, being an alien fan obligates me to watch it, so I'm catching the opening tomorrow. Hope it doesn't disappoint.
Prometheus wasn't bad, just lukewarm. A standard sci-fi action flick with aliens.
Alien and Aliens were great because the creatures were fukkin creepy, and fear of the unknown drove most of it. That's all. You can see violence and gore in any other movie, but the alien felt like it was part of the darkness made form. There were barely any full body shots, always the head, the hands, the tail. Never know where the thing was because of that. I get it was due to technological limitations, but often, less is more. You can have a 10/10 HBB sloot walking around naked all day erry day, and one day, you'll get tired of it, and come to the MISC to complain about limp dick.
Seeing reviews, apparently you get plenty of brightly lit shots, full action scenes in wide open spaces of the fukkin alien jumping everywhere. You see it in the trailer where the alien tries to headbutt the cockpit. Very lame.
Will be back to post review on Friday, but I strongly suspect I will be disappointed. Sad!

Prometheus was fantastic and was a perfect blend of backstory, buildup, and climax. There could of been a few more soldiers and fighting at end otherwise was A++
New movie looks lackluster and is basically a redo of Prometheus but with more cheesy cgi and 'slasher' type gore moments. Sorry that's not horror in my book. Horror is built suspense and unknown plot directions like Prometheus did.
Same small crew, same story, same predictable story progression. They could of atleast put some Marines in there to ensure more alien 2 style combat.
If I see Kenny Powers pulling a Rambo in not even going to bother watching it. And that's no disrespect to KP, he better atleast use a bat.
Would of been better off letting district 9 director do a proper sequel and get Ridley Scott to leave this alone. Now that dude quit his Alien movie due to this trash. Damn shame.

I just watched it with my gf.
I enjoyed it, but I feel that most of the movie is the same ol' Alien movie. It feels like Alien/Aliens and Prometheus, an updated/rushed version of the best parts of those movies.
My main problem is that the characters are just bland. I dont even know most of them, no time to develop their characters. Prometheus did it better in that department. Action/horror part is also lackluster. The ending doesnt feel epic at all... no dread factor unlike Alien/Aliens. Even my gf says the action is lacking.
In the end, its still a good movie. Great acting and visuals, and it answers some questions from Prometheus.Spoiler!
I give it a 3.25/5.
Oh and the ending is cool, but the "twist" is poorly executed IMO.

And glad to see Prince Thadeous does better than Prince Fabious.

even when retard miscers were crying about the apparent gay couple in the movie...I still couldnt wait to see it. No matter what reviewers say, a rated R alien movie has a much better chance of being good than bad.

Just saw this movie. Fuk the haters!
The only reason this movie is not better than Alien is because Alien came out first, invented the whole genre, was new and novel. This movie is like the upgraded version of Alien, and the only reason it will not enter the hallowed halls of the classics is because it came out much later, after the franchise has been dragged through the mud.
It was scary, it was tense, it was horrific. It was violent, it was shocking, it was disgusting. The soundtrack was 10/10. You could taste the desperation and the fear. Its not just a violent gore-flick, but very very creepy. Made space feel very vast and eerie.
To address the complaints:
- It brings nothing new to the table: True, but the fuk you expect? AvP brought something new, and look at how it turned out? I wanna watch Alien/Aliens, and this one brought Alien (with some philosophy) to the table, not expecting some fukking indie flick with jonnie depp
- Last 30 minutes were chit: No, you are chit. It was perfectly fine. Did you expect an arthaus film with deep philosophy? It was just a fukkin' action scene, but pompous movie reviewers want something more, when it would have made the movie chit.
- It is a mix of Prometheus and Alien: This was what Prometheus should have been. The blend of the dangers of space, the eeriness of Alien, and the philosophy of Alien was absolute perfection. It blends seamlessly into each other, and complemented each other, rather than overrode each other.
- It wasn't as philosophical and Prometheus: Yes it was, and everything made far more sense. Anyone who says otherwise is channeling a hipster indie arthaus *******. There was philosophy, and it was good, and made sense in the movie, instead of the random spewing in Prometheus.
- Its only a slightly better Prometheus: Prometheus was action/philosophy, I rate 5/10. Covenant is space/thriller, I rate 9/10.
Seriously, I think reviewers are bagging this for the same reason people bagged Evil Dead when it first came out, they're on that arthaus, indie, hipster ***gy time, and are too scared to run against the narrative. This will be remembered as part of the top 2-3 Alien movies. Definitely not #1, but definitely above #3.
I rate 9/10. 1 less because it really brings nothing new or novel, but I love it. Go see it, support it, show hollywood that we don't care about their ******* arthaus films, and want to see more stuff like this. Best film I've ever seen in the past few years, even better than TFA.

Man, all the reviewers are smashing this movie, making me sad. Even individuals. I really cant see what's so bad about it. This might be the first movie in all 32 years of my life that I actually disagree with the majority on how bad it was (I find lots of "good" movies chit, ie. king's speech, dr parnassus, all marvel movies, etc. but I've never found a poorly rated movie as good)

I saw this movie, and I gotta say it was kinda of a let down. I'm VERY easy to please too, I am not a movie snob who bitches about "character development" or anything like that.
Spoiler!
Spoiler!
The last 1/3 of the movie seemed sorta rushed, and the ending was very, very predictable. You knew as soon as the cut scenes from the two David's fighting what was going to happen next. Not to mention they ruined the chest burster with that tiny alien coming out of the captain. It would have been nice if they went into a little more detail as to Shaw's demise. We assume she was that creature that got gunned down by the captain after it beheaded that chick. I really hated the characters except McBride. There was not enough suspense or terror with the alien either. I'd give it a 5/10 I guess. I'm hoping when the next movies come in the trilogy this one will look better. Entertaining movie, but just not Alien worthy.
