ALIEN: COVENANT Getting Great Reviews

Critics all agree its way better than Prometheus, and that its more of a horror movie like the first Alien.

https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/alien_covenant

Alien: Covenant is cruel and scary - it's a hard R, and the suspense levels are off the charts. The monsters ... are believable and terrifying.

A haunting descent into hell.

For reasons too spoilery to give away, Fassbender is electric, giving a spectacularly skin-crawling performance.

Scott has effectively created a satisfying hybrid of Alien, Prometheus and even James Cameron's Aliens.

An interstellar version of Friday the 13th, with a respectable ensemble of actors as the camp counselors and various fanged slimeballs filling in for Jason Voorhees.

Alien: Covenant indulges in a spectacle that's been missing from summer movies for the past decade or so. It grosses you out and then laughs at you while you puke (not literally).

I can't wait. I am one of the few that really loves Prometheus despite its flaws. I feel that Covenant and it's inevitable sequel(s) will actually make Prometheus a better film in the long run as it's place in the canonical story will become clearer, I hope.

Seeing it Saturday night, looking forward to it.

OP is lying about the reviews? And he thinks I'm the poser here!

In all seriousness, I still watch Prometheus in full here and there. I watch it maybe a few good times a year and I thoroughly enjoyed it each time. I been waiting for the next installment, so critic reviews aside, this is one I think I will enjoy regardless of what rotten *******s or rottentomatoes gives it.

I am definitely been waiting for this, GoTG2 (seeing with daughter next week) and War For Planted of the Apes.

Its a direct sequel to Prometheus, and should bridge Prometheus to Alien. Not sure how. Aint even watching anymore trailers(only watched the first trailer).

OK so I was correct. From what I have understood there were always going to be a prequel trilogy.

1st: Prometheus
2nd: Alien: Covenant
3rd: to be announced later on

All 3 of these have been in the works, and we're finally close to #2 which is Covenant.

In other news Scott confirmed that there will likely NEVER be an Alien 5 or any that take place after Ressurrection.

Im glad Alien 5 is not happening under Blinkenpoop... he wants to erase Alien 3 and Resurrection, to have different story after Aliens. Its not right and disrespectful to the other directors.

I actually really liked that promethues was less horror and more sci-fi. Either way still planning to see this. They are heading in a great direction with these movies.

How is it disrespectful to the other directors? David fincher is on record saying Alien 3 the worst experience of his life. The directors had nothing to do with the writing of those movies, nor do they even have anything good to say about them thanks to fox and Walter hills constant meddling. Fincher can't even watch alien 3. Do you even alien movies?
A lot of fans want an alien movie from the director of district 9, arguably the best sci fi movie in twenty years, not senile ridley Scott peddling some lindelof written trash

I still do not understand the black substance they had..

Not sure if it was a weapon or wtf it was.

The one in the beginning drinks it and it turns him into a new life-form (assuming humans)

Then the humans get it and they turn into monsters??

I have never understood this.

This. Would actually be tempted to pay for the overpriced theater experience if it was more focused on the origin and agenda of the engineers. Guarantee this alien spinoff answers 0 questions about the last movie.

Seems cruel to introduce such a cool concept as the engineers and everything they've done and then just ignore it to make a another Alien-attacks-humans movie

I liked Prometheus so I'll be catching this, considering the good reviews and all. But Idk about the horror aspect of it. The Aliens series never was scary to me, I liked the Sci-fi aspect of it. Not sure if this will continue that tradition.

It could be a medium for transferring DNA or similar life code
Engineer could have drank a version that broke him down and made his DNA adapt to that planets lofe in the water making humans

The monster one could have held the alien DNA making what it mixed with alien

Kind of like how a Petri dish is always red but can be used to grow different things
