Good to see others on this forum have happy marriages. Sad how much negativity often surrounds marriage here.
Reps to my fellow happily married miscers!
Been married almost 6 years now and everything is great. If you find a good woman, don't see what is Beta about it. My wife makes good money and we both try and live similar financial lifestyle as we did in college. She likes to do all the things that I'm into, (Hunting, shooting, riding motorcycles, playing paintball, video games), but is there for "other" fun as well. We both had the day off yesterday and this was the the first part of my day
Woke up
Wife gave me a bj
took a shower together
We ate cinnamon toast crunch and watched home alone
Went to gym together
Enjoy you're random sloots miscers, I'm good with my lifestyle

There have been times when I've hated it, and times when i loved it.
I think timing is one of the biggest problems when i got married.
These things can work, but they take fukkin work men. Here's my advice if you want to get married one day.
-same core values
-together at least 5 years
-financially stable
-in your late twenties at least
-strong physical and mental attraction
-support each other's dreams and hobbies
There were several things missing in the beginning that took a toll on our marriage. Things got waaaay better, but it took more work than it should have. Every relationship is different though.
Things i would have changed
-gotten my degree and career in check
-whore around until i got tired of ****ing everything
Fellas in your early twenties, you will not be the same person when you are in your late twenties i assure you. If you think you found the right one, be patient.

It would be perfect if they took every law pertaining to marriage and family, and then went the complete opposite fuking direction. All this "no fault divorce" sh*t is just horrific. If it works out, I can imagine there's no better feeling, but it's nearly full risk on the male these days.

This is a big issue. I don't gamble. When I go to Vegas, I don't spend a penny on rolling the dice. Yet marriage is betting 50% of everything you own that this person is never going to leave you. That's FCKING INSANE.
Also, talking to a firefighter the other day. After 10 years of marriage, their partner (if they get divorced) gets 50% of their pension for the rest of their life. How...in...the...fck...is...that...legal...

I've been blessed in that pretty much all of my family remains happily married, so I've had a lot of good examples growing up.
That being said... still not sure if it's for me. At this point I definitely don't want to get married, but I'm not sure if that's because I haven't met "the one" yet or because it's becoming increasingly harder to find a decent partner without a sketchy past who is cool

Serious post for you ****ers:
Got married then divorced about 8 months ago. It was probably the worst experience of my life towards the end. Going to really consider the points brought up in the misc before even contemplate doing it again. I'm a medical student, with -200,000$ to my name yet she still came out of it 10 grand richer somehow. Free rent, free food etc. Manipulation, fake love all of it was there. I think when you have a 50% chance of knowing if the girl really loves you or not then it's tough to justify marriage. I am happy for the brothers on the misc it worked out for. I'll compile a few things I learned from this massive failure and others:
(1) Never get into a relationship unless you are happy and comfortable with yourself. Do not seek a companion in hopes that you can rely on them to fill a void in your life. Too many people do this whether they want to admit it or not.
(2) She doesn't "love" you until you **** up and she forgives you and still has your back. You get into a huge fight and she still wants to **** that night cause she knows you need it. She doesn't use sex as ransom. She's there for you when you are at the lowest of low and the highest of high points in your life. No matter how successful, people have bad days and good days. If she's really into you, she'll be sucking you off when you are at the ****tiest and best versions of yourself.
(3) Don't get into a relationship with a woman you violates your unconditionals(i.e things you like to do). Sure, in a relationship you need to compromise but I'm taking about the absolute things that you can't live with out. It's up to you to know what that is.
(4) Keep yourself fit and healthy for you not her and secondly, always stay on your game. Just cause you are in a relationship doesn't mean you should stop spitting game, dressing well and keeping healthy. You don't want her to get fat and ugly, neither should you. Also, you don't want to get kicked to the curb and be 40 pounds heavier with fatceps and a beer belly to being starting the dating game with.
(5) Avoid women with too many guy friends, or a woman with who is way to engaging and free with the opposite sex. I'm sure many of you disagree or want to debate but it is what it is. Goes both ways too. You can't be ignorant to assume that she's the only girl for you and you are the only guy for her. If she's constantly opening up to guys and guy friends it'll be much easier for her to transition on if something happens between you. There's a multitude of reasons why two people should be professional in this matters in a relationship. Don't go flirt with the big titty co-worker and pretend you don't want to **** her. Avoid too much confrontation with the opposite sex while in a long-term relationship.
(6) Keep yourself clean and your surroundings clean. Don't date a slob or be the slob. That was me and it cost me. It's a turn off if you smell bad and you keep your place consistently dirty. Do laundry. Sure if for a few days your room is a little unorganized it's cool, but all the damn time - nope.
(7) Have you actually had a conversation with this chick? Or is it superficial bull****? You want this to be your girl yet you all can't even watch a movie you both like, music you both like or even anything to talk about that you are both interested. Hmmm. Girls aren't guys - don't expect her to be into all of your hobbies but you all have to be able to chill and truly enjoy your company. You gotta be able to let loose around her.
(8) If you find out she talks **** about you to her family behind your back. Move on.

Of course there are times when I'm unhappy, but that's life regardless of marital status. 99% of the time I'm glad that I got married.
If you talked to me when I was in my early 20's I would have emphatically told you that I never wanted to get married or have kids. Life changes, priorities change, interests/hobbies change. Then I met the right woman, and starting a family was what I wanted to do.
Now I've got an awesome family that I truly enjoy spending time with. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely still need some time by myself here and there, but that's normal. Raising kids isn't easy but it's the most rewarding thing I'll ever do. If teaching your son how to be a man doesn't bring you happiness, I don't think anything ever will.

We have a lot of financial freedom and freedom to live anywhere and pretty much do whatever we want.
We argue probably more than is healthy and in the heat of the worst arguments I will genuinely think, 'Fukk I don't want to be married.' Not for very long though.
We were together for a long time before we got married. We earn about the same and no kids so no real financial implications I think.
I've definitely grown less attracted to my wife as she has got older and I'm around her all the time so for me, that is more or less inevitable. I've been with plenty of other girls and I always got sexually bored of them.
Sometimes I feel like we don't have as much in common as I would like but I'm not sure if there are other girls I would have a lot in common with.
I don't feel I'm missing out sleeping with other girls cos I got most of that out of my system and I'm no ladykiller so it's not like I would be nailing girls left right and center if I were single.
I do love her a lot though and we have been through very good and bad times together.
I don't regret getting married. I'm glad I didn't get married young.
There are times when we have argued and one of us has threatened divorce and I get kind of a sick feeling until we make it up again, like I can't really relax.

There are truly happy couple though... but usually they marry for love rather than finances and/or family pressures and/or desperation

Don't let the misc fool you or sway views towards women.
there a sloots all over the place, that's been American society since the beginning . It's just more in the public eye, all over the internet , etc.
About to have my 5th anniv. , and we're very happy together . I'm actually healthy and eat better since i've been with her, since I eat less fast food/ bull chit processed food.
but when you DO get married, top 3 pieces of advice I can give :
1. Pick someone you COMPLETELY trust. a healthy marriage IMO shares finances with each other, and you compromise on many things. if you are frugal, and she spends $$$ like crazy, chit ain't gonna work.
2. It's gotta be more than just attraction. Get a girl with SOME decent level intelligence. She doesn't have to be college educated, but boy it helps. Conversations with complete dumb asses ain't gonna work in the long run.
3. You better have some interests together. Sports, traveling, outdoor activities, movie genres , live concerts, a few things. If she wants 3 kids and to be a stay at home mom , and you want to travel the world every summer/ go to party together, something's gotta give.

The hormone release is your body telling you that this is a natural thing and it's what you should be doing.
It's a shame that married people just have to push down that urge constantly for the sake of fitting into society, it must slowly kill them inside and make them secretly despise their partner.

Been married 34 years. i can say it has not been easy there was good and bad. But I can say it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I've had a great life and much if not most was from marrying this amazing, difficult, exstrodinary women.
You can, and need to find a ground that you know you are suppose to stand on.. hence, stand your ground, this is the place where you know everything is as it should be for you. If you stand in a place where you know in your heart things are wrong, most things around you will never be right.
Rule number one, never work at being what another man defines as being "honorable", Honorable is is being true to what you know and and doing what you know is right for you..

Just like lifting weights, most miscers probably can't cut the married life because it requires work and dedication. But for those of us that put in the time and effort it is immensely rewarding

most guys in here saying they are happy to be married are relatively young, mid thirties or earlier, haven't been married long at all in the scheme of things. Would love to see threads like this 20 or 30 years from now when there will hopefully be more middle aged and older miscers, see how many of them are still happy about getting married.

Repped. Read a few posts from guys saying they are really happy in their marriage and even just by reading those I still don't understand any significant difference between being married vs. being in a relationship. I imagine those same guys were just as happy in their relationship together prior to the marriage. I just don't see any major benefit when you can have a perfectly happy and healthy relationship without the legally binding document. IMO it just adds in another variable that could potentially make things extremely difficult down the line if anything changes between the two involved. Best of luck to all the married brahs, wish all y'all happiness!
With regard to how things feel, it does feel a lot the same. We were together for four years prior to marriage, so the routine is largely the same. Our wedding was wonderful though. I still get emotional thinking about certain aspects of that day. The first time I saw her wearing her wedding gown, standing up at the alter with her hands in mind, rubbing her hands gently. Her having difficulty not being overcome with emotion at the altar as she stumbled to get through the vows, tears of pure happiness streaming down her face. That made it worth it. Feels great to be able to introduce her as "my wife" today. I wouldn't ever go back to being single, personally.
Your latter statement is true, but that's why I believe people really need to vet their future wife/husband and make sure they're fully in alignment with one another on the major issues. I have to say, talking with friends who have been through divorce I've noticed that there's always a few common denominators between each case, typically involving ignoring early warning signs that there would be a problem, or too much focus on oneself and not the other. I think if you're in alignment on the essentials and each partner works to make the other happy, it's very enriching.

Happily married for 14 years now. Got married 3 days before my 30th birthday so a little later in life.
It's not all sunshine and roses, but it's worth it. As Podunks mentioned, she needs to not only be your lover, but your best friend.
Of my core friends of 8, only 1 has been divorced.

You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.

That you are with the person you are committed to currently, because you don't mind their quirks and you enjoy their company. But it's not worth risking that for a potential drama-fest/headache of another person, who is more than likely a nasty/annoying person in private.
Take it from me brahs, NEVER take that attitude. The people who everyone here is saying that are all jaded about their marriage and want to divorce and move on are the kinds of folks who settled for the wrong reasons. The right person will be someone you don't have to hesitate about.
My wife is my best friend, and these days, there's no one else I'd rather spend my time with than her.
