My office has everyone. But my area is all older ppl. Nobody there has any life to them besides the smokers. If I go to another area there will be 100 ppl of who I don't know and my actual job would be even more horrible. Brb phone calls. Brb drama. It's a lose lose situation it seems like. Also some of the bosses are real bishes

Sitting down all day is boring. It isn't real work.....you know the kind that released endorphins and makes you feel good? Everyone there looks dead....like they are just waiting to go home. Ppl are bitchy and gossip. You're confined in a cube. Come on man it's cool for like a week because you get to be lazy but after that the monotony is too much.

Plus the office atmosphere is completely dead. There is no energy in there at all. It's like going to a football game with no fans. It's just a soul sucking environment in so many ways

You most likely worked **** job at a **** company. Plus, it's easy to be bored if you don't have a passion for a particular white collar job. You whine about a 9-5 life... now try 8-8. On busy days I'm lucky to even get off home at 10-11. But I don't complain cuz I love my job.

Same thing about fitness. I don't mind working out 2 hours a day 5 times a week (not that I can, because of the work schedules nowadays). For the 95% of population, that **** sounds boring as fuk. Why go to a gym to pick stuff up and then down when you can spend that time patying or watching netflix?

If you hate your job that much, why cant you use the Internet to look for new one?

Basically, stop whining and do something about it.

Edit: And by the way, unless you work in a call centre, no job requires you to stay in your cubicle all day. Youre allowed to move. This is coming from someone who has done office work almost 20 years.

And like the guy previously said, looks like you just work for a sh!tty company.

I have a love/hate relationship with my current office job. It's a sweet corporate gig in a hospital system. On one hand it's very much like the monotonous 8-5 cycle of excel workbooks and meetings going nowhere like everyone else is complaining about ITT. On the other hand my role requires us to have operational contact so I get to wear my balling suits and interact with doctors and c-suite and can flirt with the 65% female ratio.

I have my own garage spot and take the elevator to work to my own office. I look and feel important since my role represents the CFO.....but then again I work for a non profit. So those 60hr+ budget season weeks aren't for a fat bonus or anything.

For extraverted office workers like me, look into being a consultant or management analyst. At least you won't be under the fluorescent lights all day.

would kill to have a decent office job

worked manual labour all my life. factories, warehouses, trade labour, etc. convinced office jobs cannot possibly be worse except call centers i think. if u think office politics is bad, most of the places i've worked have actual fights, direct yelling and screaming, swearing etc. on top of politics. even the supervisors and managers straight up swear.

my office job is both good and bad. lets start with the good. i can walk to my office so im getting exercise and somewhat of an workout. same thing for lunch break. i leave the office for the 45 minutes and walk around. i dont sit on my ass all day, thank god. the only bad part is things getting boring pretty fast when there is no enough work to do.

Sounds like it's not so much office life in general as much as this particular office. I'm an office guy and I've worked places where there's not much socialising to be had and the general dynamic is a bit soul-destroying.

However I've also worked in offices (including the one I'm in now) where the social aspect is great, it's lively enough and it's been easy to make plenty of friends.

This place you're at may not be the right fit for you but don't let that sour your view on all places in your field. The next one may well be a better fit, more sociable, more going on etc.

Insurance office worker here. It's never been fun, exactly, but had some cool coworkers to share the misery with at least, while I've looked for something better. Now the ones I liked have been fired or quit.

I admit, I've been seriously fighting depression lately. Might have been losing to it, honestly. However this thread has motivated me to put in more applications. I'm just not the type to rot. Focusing on field work positions from now on. Talk about a soul-sucking process, getting rejection after rejection even though I'm qualified. Gonna keep at it though, somebody will bite eventually, damn.

Office life for me is pretty sweet. Family owned manufacturing company in a rural area of NY. Nobody cares about being PC and the women that work in the office are pretty laid back and redneck. Small place where everyone is tight knit with no office politics or drama. Beats the hell out of the corporate world which is where I was before here. I get to engineer parts and assemblies and than have the option to go in the shop to build what I design and wrench on things. If I dont want to be at my desk for a few hours I can just go down stairs and do stuff to break up the day.

On the weekends I work for my buddies paving business and do tradie things. I have no idea how some of you brahs do the cubicle office space life.

brb leave at 330pm for happy hour.

This is seriously my work routine when I was a consultant in Houston for a state agency. The manager I report to always drag me out early for happy hours. Best work environment ever lol.

On another serious note, its not always like that especially when you are really "working". I dont even notice the time is gone due to lots of meetings to attend, things to coordinate, reports to make, and misc threads to reply to. I actually misc from meetings too when it gets boring lol. And aside from that, you get a decent 6 digits pay.
