There are about 1000000 other reasearch papers that show that IF has many more benefits than frequently eating for overall health

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4255155/

tldr: if you constrain your eating to a maximum of a 12 hour window (9-10 hour being even better) you will be in a far better position for weight loss and muscle gain, even without exercise. Digestive enzymes, once activated by consuming food, effectively have a 12 hour timer on them, and eating past that limit causes poor insulin responses and other metabolic issues.

The only thing you're allowed to consume outside of the feeding window is water. Even black coffee/herbal tea is not allowed, as it apparently still requires digestive enzymes for your body to process.

First, false. And second, that was a terrible summary AW.

No, it is not. And the only people who say that are fat people.

And if that's not enough, I'll testify.

It is insignificant, and does not incur an insulin spike.

The following table shows how IF, as well as other popular 'diets', accomplish weight loss:

We're sorry, this is an incorrect (IF), answer. Please try again later.

The only pattern here is consistency in errors; and for the record, IF is NOT a diet.

It's good that some people are naturally lean and can get away with it, but your average chubby person can't.

Sugar is not really meant to be consumed by people. Fruits are fine, to an extent, but even then you probably don't want to eat too many bananas, although they are great to have as a pick-me-up.

Still a long shot from sitting at night and consuming a pint of ben & jerries and 3 pop tarts, then going right ahead, and advocating that every one else do the same, all whilst you are sweating profusely, for what ever reason.
woT

if you're in a caloric deficit, you're in a caloric deficit, you're not going to gain fat from ingesting a crap ton of sugar in 1 sitting, sugar is carbs/calories @ the end of the day

same goes if you're in aslightcaloric surplus, hit your protein/fats and fill the rest with w.e macro you want, hit your micros and you're fine.

totally not saying ingesting sugar in unhealthy amounts is good for you, anything in moderation provided you got a balanced diet right?

am I missing something?

Wrong. The only thing good about sugar is the taste. Now complex carbs is a different story. But you really don't need them.
am I missing something?
A great deal actually. Hint: it takes energy to make energy.
The body is an extremely complex organism. Although anything can be narrowed into simple terms, its a whole lot more complicated than calories in, calories out.

It is irrelevant. You can eat 5 times per day with **** tier macros. I can eat once per day hitting all my macros. Who will fare better?

Overall calories and macros are what matters. Meal timing is another myth perpetuated by the lowlifes of the supplement industry.

Meal frequency is and isn't a myth. While ideally you wouldn't want to go a long time without eating because muscle preservation is slightly lower, it won't be a make it or break it type situation for the most part. It's a very minor effect. Calories in = calories out is the top of the pyramid, then it's macros, then micros, then frequency.

You guys are looking into the extremes of everything when arguing. Saying IIFYM means to eat a bunch of garbage and saying IF means to starve yourself when both really aren't the case.

OK i know you shouldn't eat sugar, but what does it matter if i choose to eat two mchickens every day or a big ass homemade bacon egg and cheese bagel for breakfast????

If the rest of my diet is clean, no sugar, IIFYM, high protein....what does it matter?

Obviously you shouldn't eat sugar or a ton of sodium, but it is pretty nuts to consume nothing but clean foods for months on end. And this is coming from someone who did it for a year straight. I went a few months without even having a cheat meal and it sucked.

If you think that 210lbs shredded is possible natty, your tour is over boyo.

It definitely is the limit for a lot of people. I am talking 10% bodyfat shredded style 170lbs.
