I've been feeling this way for months. Realized my best friend (girl) will probably get a boyfriend once we graduate, and I'll never hear from her again. A lot of people here don't like having girls as close friends but she means everything to me and we would both do anything for each other to make the other succeed. She's even bought stuff for me when I was sick a few times, just acted really nice.
A lot of my friends have gone their separate ways. They don't text anymore, they just keep to themselves. It's cool, I know they have their own lives, and so I do my best to just let them be themselves. Probably only have about five or so people I actually talk to on a consistent basis, and who I would never forget. I've been consistently rejected by girls to the point where i just don't care anymore. I've stopped trying. All these feelings have been building up inside since September of last year.
Feelsbadman but I just continue on w/life, no point in giving up.

It sucks when you feel that way, especially when you find people more tuned into digital devices than actual people.

All the damn time. Just focus on work, lifting, running and taking care of some of my family and that gets me through the day. Just sucks thinking about getting older and such, feel I'll be even more isolated.

I am VERY VERY GLAD that I do not have this problem! I have many friends to talk to, and any time I feel like doing something I can arrange it! I often find myself declining invitations around Friday and Saturday because I get too many texts!
I also have a thin blonde girlfriend and we have a great time whenever we go out! At work I have a lot of chats with my coworkers because I perform well and help others, and so they are good to me in return.
I am VERY happy with my life and this thread makes me feel so good DEEP INSIDE MY CHEST that I will never have the problems the rest of you do!
Have a NICE DAY EVERYONE!

It's so strange to see the world from both an points of view, and how different both life styles areYeah I think life is really like that for very extraverted people. Their days are filled with social connections and social events and they really cannot relate to loneliness or isolation.
And if they lose one person like in a relationship breakup then they have a big group of people to fall back on for support plus it doesn't take them long to find someone new because they're just surrounded by people all the time with a big social network. Really such a different way of life.

My two friends are both extremely extraverted and social and their life is a blur of social events. They are very rarely or ever alone and they're always either talking to people or meeting with people or on their way to do so. Juggling all their social appointments and trying to fit everyone in. It's a completely different lifestyle.

I am a pretty big introverted person and I concur with people who say we choose a select few friends and rather have smaller tight nit groups. I was this way in High School and College. Ultimately I regret ever being this way. It's natural for friendships to come and go because of real life getting in the way. You cannot always count on people, even if you know them for a lifetime ( I don't blame them.) Having a small group of friends in the end has hurt me more than it has helped. While it's true having more friends as an extrovert does not mean they are all good friends, you still have options, lots.
As you get older as an introvert it becomes even more difficult to keep/make/find new friends. Your friends will move away for job opportunities. They will get married and have kids..etc. So you are stuck with trying to make friends and it isn't always easy for us.
Loneliness sucks mane. Humans weren't meant to be alone and with modern society it's only going to get worse with social isolation. Therefore I've been attempting to make new friends/social groups to slow down the inevitable but at times it seems like a fruitless task.

The sooner you realize this is true and accept it, the better off you're going to be.
Even married people feel alone and uncared for.
For you introverts out there, it's just a label, it doesn't have to be your life, you can become an extroverted person, you CAN change, it's a matter of determination and confidence and a few other factors and realizations, but I know it's possible because I've done it.

I know I need to move my ass along and stop trying to make it work. I am a pretty solid girlfriend with a lot of love to give and I am just throwing it in the wind and hearing nothing back. Ugh.

Their connections are hedged because they have so many of them so then it's not such a big deal to lose one compared to if all your affection is focused on one person.

If they have any time left over after family and work they'll see their existing friends and probably won't be interested in making new ones.

So basically to feel less lonely we have to socialize more right?
Socializing is draining to introverts therefore we can't do it as much or do not desire to do it as much, right?
So what choice do we have?
