And again- if you buy nice things then what is the big deal with a couple thousand on a ring for life?
To answer your question more directly, because I don’t want to sink money into an artificially rare commodity. Diamonds are pretty no doubt, so maybe a tiny diamond or something on the second hand market would be a consideration.
If my woman has a huge problem with that logic, then it’s a good sign we won’t last anyway.

Well i spend 6k a year on my car payments and will have it paid off in 1.5 years so that means a year after that i will have 6k more in the bank than i would if i was paying off my car so obv my grl gonna get a 6k ring
Everything I post is 100% false and should not be taken seriously. It in no way reflects my viewpoints and/or morals.

Get her some moissanite. If she comes back, and tells you its fake, call the whole thing off.

Not rustled that anyone does it, but let's call it what it is.

Spent 20k. The ring is stunning.
If you don't care for these kinds of things that's fine. I thought it was worth the price.

With respect to the band, a good band will run you around 1k. The cost of the engagement ring is all in the diamond.

To me the only use for money is to spend it for enjoyment and comfort. Partly in the future by saving and investing, but also partly spending some of it in the present while you're healthy and alive to enjoy it.

Not a lot.
Anyways, whether it's fine or not depends on the reason why. I think that spending a lot on a ring is ridiculous. But if you're just a cheapskate in general, it's not an attractive quality to have.

Logically speaking…not something expensive. I wouldn't want my wife walking around with a $5000 ring everywhere merely from a safety standpoint.
