Having been around since 05 i see a few common themes.
1. no BB or lifting focus which builds confidence.
2. no social skills but good at technology.
3. fear of anything or anyone that looks different.
4. no BB or lifting which builds confidence.

I think lack of ego is passivity, laziness, not getting what you want

Whereas egoism is taking the bull by the horns and doing it yourself

Imo, being more chill is having needs met and having accomplished something = ego

I actually know what no ego is like, it's pretty much the elimination of desire. And MAYBE more happy but only happy in the sense that you don't care about anything. So, therefore what would there be to get upset about?

It's blissful but simultaneously disgusting

But like I said, I do also see problems with extreme egoism. I just think a stronger ego will be more accomplished

E.g. Houstonmiscer going out and getting laid vs. staying online

I mean you can go down that Buddhist route if you want. Look up "ruthlesstruth" or "liberation unleashed" if you want

Imo the west and east are polar opposites. Ones about wealth and power and prestige and the other is about non-attachment and renouncing worldly possessions.

But like i said I think a lack of ego is a lack of accomplishment. And then you get pissed and start chit because you don't have x. Whereas strong ego goes out and gets x so has nothing to be upset about

It's a hard middle ground to find, which is perhaps why it creates good discussion

I agree that ego is not necessarily bad, but to a certain point which I think is what you're saying. Ego is a tool that can give us desire and motivation to push ourselves farther and to greater accomplishments. But ego starts to become bad once you start to become arrogant and selfish.

In a spiritual sense it could be different. I've heard of people taking psychedelics and having their ego "die" which gave them great peace and clarity. I'm not very spiritual so I don't know, but I try to keep an open mind.

Pretty most people start lifting because they're insecure. We come here for advice on how to improve ourselves and for some it works. It has been great for my life. For others, the advice is amazing but the forum is filled with people that are so insecure and negative that they don't want to help others, they'd rather use other people's insecurities to make them feel better about themselves. It's a never ending circle unfortunately.

Si. If you look into it more people also say it was the most harrowing experience of their life

Jung said that ego death was the "great death" and regular death is actually smaller. Because believe it or not most of our communication comes from the voice in our head

I had it happen sober. (I didnt want it)

It was by far the worst experience of my life. The only people that i could see it helping are those who hate themselves (i didnt). And want to start fresh. Idk how to explain but i legit felt like a baby. Everything was new

Simultaneously, i didnt feel stressed at all, but again, thats because you didnt want anything. It was like 24/7 contentment but kind of disgusting in that way; you should have a reason to be content. It was like you could be revelling in a pile of chit but it didnt matter

They ego also evolved as it did to aid us in survival and to warn us; rolling around in chit is not good. It helps us distinguish good and bad, right vs. Wrong, good vs. Evil, etc.

I went from a straight a, doing chitloads of stuff, 4.0 gpa in college. To not doing chit, gaining weight and failing out of classes

If you look into that buddhist chit their monks renounce all possessions, go to a life of solitude, forego sex and stay in the mountains all day staring at walls.

Perhaps because my life was so in order is what made it so bad, but the egolessness caused a lot of problems imo.

Imo ego = order
Egolessness = disorder

A lot of societal problems could prob be boiled down to egolessness. But i GUESS you could spend your life trying to deny it, which would take every second of your life vs. Trying to embrace it

One is much more conducive toward constructivism and one is more deconstructive

ALSO, if you eat (necessary) i 100% believe it requires ego. So, if you do eat and believe in no ego, you are a hypocrite

How did you experience ego death while sober? I don't think that's possible unless you've practiced years as a Buddhist monk. From the way you described how you felt it sounds more like depression than loss of ego. And if you let your thoughts cause you anxiety, you still have an ego.

Ego loss is described as peace of mind and clarity, so materialism, money, and competition is not important. Eating is a necessity, nothing to do with ego. Western society promotes the ego because it pushes materialism, competition, and money as importance. Western society has constructed itself where the ego is necessary in order to survive.
