That engine and body style are embarrassing. At the very least this thing better be bullet proof like it’s predecessor and be able to handle close to double its power on the stock block. Highly doubtful though. Wtf were they thinking with this?

Yeah this has been rumors/semi news for a while. Going to be overpriced and nothing like the original thus ruining most of why people liked them in the first place. Honestly wish they'd just restomod these for the most part with similar looks and just some updated tech and performance.
Look at the NSX (cool car but not like the original). Give it time, honda will phuk up the s2k too.
[QUOTE=FFailed post_id=1556085281]Is this real life? 80k for an automatic Toyota that puts out 4cyl turbo #s. They should of just came up with a new model instead of ruining the Supra name with this pathetic attempt. So you are paying German car prices for a Toyota with lesser performance. Seems legit

Should have just done a resto-mod style design and then market them comparable to mustang gt and Camaro pricing.
Seems manufacturers forget that the mind set of someone who wants these cars also looks at what they can get or build for the money.

I currently drive a BMW M240i, which more or less hass the same transmission / engine combo that this car will have.
Point A - The B58 engine is underrated, it puts down the power claimed to the wheels. So I would say crank seems to be more around 400hp/400tq at least. Very easily tuned motors.
Point B - the 8 speed ZF transmission the new Supra will have is better than a manual. In manual mode, it is almost as quick as a dual clutch auto. There's no lag whatsoever.

1. how come a lot of big manufacturers lately build sports cars that resemble BMWs or at least have very high resemblance of eachother.
2. didn't they abandon Supra and wasn't GT86 supposed to be the next generation? why are they rebranding something that clearly resembles a Toyota GT86? That thing doesn't look anything like the Supra. It's an utter punch in the face for all the fans tbh. Cool job tho rebranding a Toyota GT86 as a Supra for dat dere sentiment gains

I feel bad for anyone expecting anything close to the same power as a base B58 or MB58.
I know there is more to it such as power/weight ratio but those numbers seem way low.

Anyone can build a car to go fast in a straight line. Inflation has to be taken into account as well as competition and demographics. If you try to sell a car based on the demographics and competition of when the first Supra came out it'll be a failure from a business standpoint. So they'll have to stick to some core routes but at the same time create something innovative and right now, just raw power isn't really impressive. R&D for handling and aerodynamics is much much more complicated. The Supra is iconic. Those engines were way ahead of their time. That's the four banger eco boost they put in the mustangs

This is all speculation though until it all comes out. If it's true that it's going to be that under powered I will be very disappointed.

A really slick tech savvy transmission with aggressive gearing and a solid motor that is underrated with a drivetrain with excellent traction will put this car probably in the low to mid 12s in the quarter mile from factory which is a solid starting point but for 80 grand it's a complete waste of money that I will agree with. Also need to look at the 86, balance and fun was amazing despite lacking big numbers.
If this has similar handling and balance to the 86 with twice the power it would be a great car.
