delts are my strongest thing too.

i do pretty light weight, keep lots of tension on them. and probably hit 200-300 reps a week. High volume af. 5x20 30-45 secs rest.

For nattys there just something to be said about adapting to be able to withstand serious volume and frequency.

unnatty delt pop is unsightly with that square rear delt look.

Do you lift heavy and have you "build a base" with your compound lifts?

I'm always down on myself because I have novice numbers but I see and hear people say you can get good hypertrophy with mind muscle connection and great form.

Main movements are in the 6-12 rep range with accessories in the 10-15, sometimes up to 30 rep range. Weight should be relative to what you can control with perfect form keeping the weight on the muscle.

Don't let others get you down man, some of my numbers are pitiful lol. Don't care

I started doing lateral raises every week but they only seem to be getting harder, perhaps I was overtraining them or something but I had to lower the weight and I was doing 12+ reps every set.
Not sure how to approach the exercise and what day to do them in-between my push/pull and legs. I was dedicating like 45 minutes of my time just doing super low weight lateral raises and build up slowly to heavier weight.

No offense, but if you're doing 45 minutes of lateral raises, you either are using proper form to transfer the load to the side delt, or you aren't using enough intensity on your sets. Supersets and drop sets are your friend for delts IMO.

After my pressing movement (either DB or reverse band smith machine right now) I do like 3-4 sets of these (sometimes each with a drop set) and my delts are fukin toasted.

LOL you're not the first person here to comment on the abs, it's all good. I put approximately zero percent of my workouts into ab training. But still, i guess that's just where i hold fat

Very rare to see non manlets with 3D delts natty, and has nothing to do with training or intensity.

Be careful with the terminology you use, with lifting 'high intensity' usually refers to heavy weight/low reps.

Still mirin delts though, natty or not, Good stuff.

Yeah i hear ya, probably not the right terminology in that situation. But i think the thing i see with newer or novice lifters, is they have a program that says do 4 sets of 8 of a certain exercise, so they count to 8.... and then stop no matter what.. because that's what the paper says. 4 sets of 8 is fine, but you can't do 4 efficient sets using the same weight and expect optimum results, imo. But i don't even science

I'm guessing it's everyone's tendency to point the bicycle finger at anyone who actually works their ass off 5-6 days a week in the gym for 4 years straight and sticks to a solid diet

Your delts, given your story is true are exceptional. Not eating real food and having delts popping out from each direction is still a tough/near impossible journey for most people.

Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit softly.

Only problem with that guy's logic is he is explaining the DB Lateral raise as if you just "drop it" back to starting position.

Try 30 lb. Lateral raises with a 3-4 second controlled eccentric (negative).

In fact you should be doing 3-5 second controlled eccentric on almost all moves, or you're leaving out a LOT of intensity.

Regardless of how slow your eccentric is, there is still barely any tension for the bottom 1/3 of the movement with dumbells unless you're leaning/laying sideways on inclined bench. And if you have the angles right with the cables, the weight is heavier at the bottom (where you're strongest) and lighter when you get to the top (where you're the weakest) so you can really get the most out of each set.

His theory on tempo:

I partially agree, but of course genetics play a huge role in delts, and i think it's much less common/harder in tall brahs due to the length of the shoulder/insertion.

Very very rare to see someone 6'1+ with 3D delts and natty, far more common in manlets.

Still, not trying to knock the work you've put in, you've clearly worked and dieted very hard for your physique so fair play to you.

I don't disagree with the cable method and think it's excellent. I was specifically attacking the DB theory where you're only getting resistance on "one third of the movement".

As long as you're keeping tension throughout the entire eccentric movement then yes, you have it throughout the entire exercise. Not 1/3 or even 2/3. Slow, controlled hold all the way back to starting position.

Haha oh my bad, thought you were being a smartass. The 2018 pic from the side is just straight from an iPhone 6 with no filter. The 2018 pic from the front has an basic filter from Instagram, but nothing beyond that. My avi is just God-tier gym lighting at 167 lbs lmao
