i have 3 suggestions :

Kaiji - an anime about gambling, but it's really fking good. the main character is a miscer who ends up in a really crazy position ... a life or death roll of the dice. I'm not into gambling AT ALL but this show got me hooked.

Castlevania - watch easy on Netflix. 2 great seasons with high octane action, blood, gore and good story stelling, badass visual style too. Very vampiric, gothic.

Deathnote - everyone knows this is great, so yeah... watch it

Never tried proper 'anime' only **** like south park, family guy, archer etc.

But the storyline seems cool, so i will give this a try. Better not suck.

Only anime i've watched was Pokemon when I was about 10.

What I will say though is that online anime communities appear to be a cesspit of nonces, autists, kinkster weirdos, and basement dwellers.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Anime. most of the Anime i watched is kind of a mess from a dailogue and storytelling stand point. overly simple and non-subtle dialogue and plots that are riddled with holes and spiral out of control for the sake of seeming complex.

however thats obviously not all of anime, just most of the ines ive been recommened. the one in the OP sounds promising so ill check it out
