It’s easy to get sucked in to Taubes’ theory which is why so many people believe it. It sounds very compelling but have YOU ever stopped to take a few seconds from jacking off and porn to question it or just accepted it with blind faith because o the surface it sounds really pretty good.
It’s a good marketing scheme, but I suggest you actually take the time to dig a little further. Specifically, I recommend you search for arguments that counter that hypothesis presented (and trust me the info is out there before you come back and tell me you couldn’t find anything)
Until then you and I had nothing to discuss and hopefully you’re open enough to explore the potential your viewpoint is incorrect. Outside of that, not much I can help you with.
What I can say is I’ve long had an open mind for the keto hypothesis and based on my research (and own personal application complete with bf testing) have concluded it’s broscience beyond benefits of reduced water retention as opposed to actually enhancing fat loss.
It’s misleading in a sense people very much lose weight, and they associate that with fat loss which is where the biggest dilemma has arisen for those insisting insulin regulation must be the primary culprit to fat gain/loss.
Now can you say you’ve done as thorough of a job comparing as I have or is your argument just pointing to a few published studies that support your position as total confirmation
I work in research and let me tell you a few published sources supporting one side doesn’t mean there aren’t as many sources supporting opposing sides.
Spoiler alert: Th Research world is an absolute sh*t show. So best of luck learning to navigate that world with the rest of us.

Once you get lean, it's not too hard to stay there as long as you use some common sense. Have a BBQ to go to at 4PM? Fast until then............ eat like crap on Saturday??? Do a couple low carb days after that + extra cardio.
Just do quick, immediate repairs to the damage you did. Don't let them compound and build up. As long as you are on point 80-90% of the week (really depends on the person/genetics) you're going to be fine.
Don't over complicate things.

I'm cutting from 205 to 170 this year and not doing anything special with my diet aside from eating less, choosing healthier foods, and cutting out beer. Keeping it simple and putting those three principles together (along with continuing to lift heavy) should work out well enough.
All these diets get WAYYY too overcomplicated, I'm starting to learn.

So, with Keto diets -- no carbs. Carbs typically the biggest spikers of insulin (although whey protein is up there). Protein is typically more moderate and fat barely spikes insulin at all. So they work, even when someone like Jason Whitrock (who likely is not natural so ymmv if you compare yourself to him) but even when he goes on a 10,000/day calorie diet a day, he doesn't gain a lot of fat because the 10,000 calories are coming from foods that aren't skyrocketing his insulin, the excess calories are chit out, burnt by his metabolism, whatever.
Lol at chit out the excess calories... or “whatever”Yeah a model source of information who knows what’s going on here.
Ya know those calories just don’t count or “whatever” lmao

Alot of the time people just "try hard" year round and end up looking like a twink or sht and don't know why when they're constantly dieting, learn to just chill out and have fun days where u eat what u want and live your life. A burger/pizza/pancake every now and then isn't going to kill you, sometimes i wake up after eating junk and look better than the day before, also carb cycling is the way to go.

Why do people take discussing diet so seriously? Jesus christ lol. What works for one won't work for another and that's fine. There aren't many absolutes.

-There is no magic diet.
-Bodyweight is a function of calories in vs calories out
-Body composition is a function of: hormones, activity type/levels, and protein intake.

The problem is when people start pretending it works for some false hormone regulation narrative when ultimately the calories consumed is a far greater impact on the reduction of fat loss than the bullsh*t stories being spun about carbs being the enemy
People simply don’t want to take responsibility for their actions with this narrative. Go keto and still consume the same amount of calories you’ve been eating on carbs and you’ll still be a fatass

Thats not what I wrote at all. Insulin is a huge factor In weight loss. I did say for the typical in shape gym goer its a non issue. For the average person who has gotten themselves to a unacceptable weight insulin is a huge factor. Two different groups of people.

Jason Fung has a wealth of info out there as well.
As for my personal anecdotes, I lost 75# in 7 months without having to drop calories at all during the journey. My metabolism has defiantly sped up if anything or at the very least remained the same. Fat just comes off like nothing. Never before has it been like this for me.
There is other benefits though as well that are of value to me. Anti cancer, anti diabetes/dementia, anti inflammatory properties.
I will say though im not one to say carbs are the devil depending on the form. Thats silly, I will start to seasonally eat vegetables, but still avoid fruit(allergic) But I will avoid pastas, bread and any sort of refined carb source.

I am NOT some anti-carb keto zealot, although I do like the keto dietfor some people. Someone who is not obese, does not have issues with insulin resistance, who is active? Eat some carbs. Fuk, some lifters probably need to get a little messy with their carb intake, if they are having trouble gaining - so not just carbs, but I'm talking go out of your way to eat a sloppy hamburger if you're an ecto who is lifting his guts out and having trouble gaining.
It's ALL situational, though -- so, going back to my original post and saying it for myself and not letting some jackass who refuses to read my post actually paraphrase it -- Keto is great for some people and for some people it might be the best route but ANYONE who says you have to do A-B-C with anything, whether it's keto or cardio or crossfit or anything, they're W-R-O-N-G. There are many paths to success. You can lose weight with Keto. For some people it might be the best and easiest way, take an overweight, older or person with insulin resistance. They will thrive on keto but even there, it's not like keto must be the ONLY way or that eating keto is a license to not watch your diet and do whatever.
It's a diet, not magic.
Now, as far as weight/fat gain in general, the number of calories takes a backseat to the food choices. Measuring calories is not entirely worthless, but it's problematic. Anyone who thinks it's only calories in vs calories out is just wrong. Don't tell me 100 calories from high fructose corn syrup is no different than 100 calories from steak or 100 calories from coconut oil. You can fuk right off with that and we all know it, nobody who goes on a diet gets very far if they don't fundamentally change the foods they eat. People don't go on a successful diet and drink cokes, eat pizzas regularly or do all the other chit that got them fat in the first place, we all fuking know this - yet I spell it out and suddenly you have these guys who apparently can't read well who take offense. Give me a break.

Looking at a macro-level, obesity levels have skyrocketed over the years, what is your explanation? People just eat more nowadays? Everyone, everywhere, they all just decided at once to start eating more and that's why. That makes no sense. Yet, my explanation, the increase consumption of processed foods and sugars, it correlates EXACTLY with the rise in obesity levels.
So, why? What is your explanation?
