Being ripped is by definition simply just a low amount of fat relative to everything else. Being fat is due to an excess of calories, eating more calories than your body is putting to use elsewhere, stored to be used for a later date.
So you're saying there is something about carbs specifically, that makes people have a high amount of fat relative to everything else?

Been mostly keto the last year and the cramping is bad. I even supplement mag/pot and other things. Eat plenty of veggies and get enough salt. It's strange.

Since someone being fat rather than lean is a result of excess calories, why do carbs make the someone less lean?
Even if you go the route of saying "Carbs promote hormones that make the body start storing fat", well that fat would eventually get used up, as the body would need to use it for energy.
Unless the argument is that carbs mess with someones body composition? As in they make a person weigh the same, but their mass is proportioned differently due to carbs?

keto is for twinks and girls. low energy pathetic weight lifting sessions and looking flat as a piece of paper. Ill never do keto again. Whatever benefits there may be its not worth it because of the downsides. You can stay lean year round eating carbs

I stay lean year round by nailing my nutritional numbers. If I want to bulk and put on a few lbs of muscle I will eat about 200-300 calories above maintainance with a few days of eating in a deficit to create a net caloric surplus of about 1200-1300 calories in the week.
The reason for 1200 calories is that there is roughly 1200 calories in 0.5lbs of muscle. So as long as you're training is on point and creating more tension week after week. Then a micro bulk adding a few pounds with minimal fat gain can be effective.
After you put on a few pounds of solid muscle, then you can go into a cut for a few weeks. Dropping your calories about 500. This way you can retain muscle and stay lean.
So I guess this would be called micro cutting/micro bulking.

The good thing about Keto is that you spare muscle whileyou lose fat quickly. It may not be the best for bulking but for maintenance and fat loss, it's definitely something to consider.
Also, bulking to 30-50 lbs of muscle when you're already in great shape is unnecessary unless you're trying to compete for a bodybuilding competition. Once you reach your aesthetic physique goal, keto diet might be the best option to maintain that aesthetics.

I see a lot of people go from fat to skinny fat following a keto diet. Your average fat American treats it like a crash diet and loses a lot of muscle mass with the fat

Whereas if you increase carbs to like 20-30%, then youre gonna have less fat and protein.
Protein needed for the obvious reasons
Fat is needed if youre natty athlete because it helps with mind/body functions + natty test levels.
If you ever cut on low calories with VERY low fat - then goodbye morning errections/sex drive.
I always used to religiously cut using keto style diets.
However, for the last 4 weeks I've been losing ~2-3lbs a week whilst keeping my carbs up too and havent notice much difference.
usually i opt for keto because I find if I have high carbs, then i'll hold water.
However, if I consistently have medium/high carbs - then im going to more or less consistently be holding the same amount of water. And why does it matter if i hold 3-4lbs of water if im not at my end goal anyway. Its purely so I can feel like i "look better" than I actually do.
I also found that if i go low carbs, then my cravings are insane. i want to overeat/overinduldge in high carbs/fat food and always end up eating way more than I should when I cheat on my diet. So by having some carbs in my diet, I found that overall I was much more satisfied on low calories and much more likely to stick with diet in terms of day to day consistency and week on week.
e.g. Keto is a mind**** if you go out to eat with friends. Or it ****s you up and you feel so bad if you do like 10 days low carbs, then youre forced to have high carbs one day because you will gain like 2-4lbs overnight with water.
Long story short, for me ; Im planning on cutting down to 10% with carbs (which im doing now) then in the final stages (10% to 8%, like the last 4-8lbs of fat) I will just drop the carbs out completely to shed the water.
I have no idea what its like to maintain single digit bodyfat though, I cant really comment on that. I've probably got down to like 10% at the leanest before, but I literally went straight on holiday and went full yolo with my diet and probs put on like 15lbs in 1 month. rip

You would look less cut than before if your body fat was very low.

My problem with keto is it's antisocial as ****. Keto breath is disgusting, I remember when my ex and I would go train in the mornings on keto, talking to each other during was a true labour of love.
Also alcohol kicks you out of ketosis. Also it's a pain to eat with your friends.

Most of you that say they’re on keto aren’t even doing a real keto diet. Are you really consuming 80% fat and 20% protein? Or just doing some half assed low carb diet with tons of chicken breast and calling that keto?
