I'm 6'3, light brown hair and blue/grey eyes. I turned a few heads here and there but Japanese girls are very old fashioned. They aren't going to come to you and unless you speak at least conversational Japanese you aren't going to get anywhere. Cold approaching them on the street is mostly seen as overly aggressive, some will let it slide because you're gaijin but you're going to need a Japanese circle of friends if you want to meet a good Japanese girl that isn't a sloot gaijin hunter.
As a Westerner used to Western girls (which is what I'm comparing to here) Japanese girls love gentlemen and the concept they call "ladies first", they want to be treated like a real lady. Physical contact isn't as big a thing as it is in the West, they're very physically closed off until you're pretty much in a relationship.
I could go on and on about this chit but what I'm driving at is that you aren't going to have Japanese girls lining up to ride your gaijin cawk just because you're white and work out. Muscles aren't even necessarily a good thing to most Japanese women, if you polled the country it would probably weigh pretty heavily toward "any body type that isn't fat". You aren't going to out alpha Japanese men with a good physique, because it really isn't much of a bonus in that culture.

It looks cute on some girls, adds character. They do handle it pretty well though, a lot of the girls with the really misaligned teeth will cover their mouths when they speak but for the most part carry it through with a decent amount of confidence, which adds a weird bit of attractiveness to it. When you spend a lot of time around it, you kind of stop noticing unless its really out of control. Honestly, language barrier makes it tough. I went to school here to learn Japanese, but after 3 months it was still laughable. Enough to have some basic exchange in a bar or pub and get them instagram follows but hard to proceed from there. Needless to say, my only action here happened with Japanese girls who spoke English and been abroad, most of the time on a student exchange, so that alone made them more open minded.
I put Japanese into two groups, the ones who never lived abroad and in general don't care about the outside world and those who are to some degree westernized. Needless to say 95% of the girls belong to the first category and to do something with them, you at least need to speak the language. I'd definitely try more, but living with my gf all the time made things complicated, as you brahs can imagine, but I've got a solid grasp on how things tend to work here.
And yeah, as someone mentioned above, Japanese brahs are quite aesthetic and have a good sense of style, so being white isn't that much of an advantage at all. Same applies to Korea I feel, but let's say in China, you're reminded of your white privilege almost on a daily basis.

When I was a broke uni student, I’d drink in parks and approach other drunk people around my age and mingle. That’s a pretty much sure fire way to make friends/get girls on a budget.
There’s also no shortage of cheap accommodation (guest houses), food, places to see.
On the other end of the spectrum, you could splurge to have some of the best food you would ever have, try out luxury hotels where you’ll be treated like a king, etc.
I find that in japan paying more is often worth it, even though you still get good value on a budget. (As opposed to places like Singapore where everything feels overpriced)

Don't go anywhere in Japan that has a military base (minus Tokyo even though Yokosuka is close to it), they already have an aversion to Americans and/or theres lots of 5's that love Americans. Spent 2 years in South Japan and all the white guys I know had a hard time but the black guys did well. Osaka all the white guys did well and it wasn't flooded with Americans so plus. But yea definitely atleast try to learn Japanese if you go there. Anywhere else in Asia minus maybe Korea don't bother to learn the language, you'll know enough to get by and you're American.

What I meant was for prospects of picking up girls. If they know you're just a tourist and not trying to make a living there would they see you differently.
