For all intents and purposes, a cop can claim he has reasonable suspicion whenever he wants to. It's a much lower threshold than probable cause. So, if he asks you to come here and you refuse, he can simply claim later that he was asking because he had reasonable suspicion, which will probably be difficult to disprove, so... the smart play is to not walk away when asked.

Remember, deaf people have been shot for not hearing/heeding the instructions of cops, so you don't want to give a cop the idea that you're ignoring him.

Just comply and show your ID? I know the internet wants you to believe every cop is firing their gun in shopping malls trying to stop someone stealing a pack of gum but in reality most are nice if you don't act fuking smug and just do what they say. That or, I don't know, don't put yourself fin suspicious situations or break the law.

So, walking down the street is "reasonable suspicion" that a crime is going to or has been committed? Lmfao. "Reasonable suspicion" is whatever the officer wants it to be.

you have to check if your being detained. start filming with your phone and ask "AM I BEING DETAINED AM I BEING DETAINED?". let him know your a sovereign citizen and that you know your rights to be on the safe side.

GTFO with that bullsht. "Stop and identify" only applies if the officer has "reasonable suspicion" that you have committed a crime. It is perfectly legal (although not recommended) and constitutional in the entire US to tell an officer to fuk off if he asks you anything (unless you are driving, in which case you are required to show ID. This does NOT apply to passengers in the vehicle according to a recent Supreme Court case), and you ALWAYS have the right to remain silent, which includes refusing to ID yourself.
This isn't true. If your detained you need to state your name.

does it benefit you to give him a min of your time? NOPE

it can ONLY lead to negative consequences so why do it?

I have many friends in law enforcement but I still won't waste time talking to a cop. It simply serves me no purpose, casually walk away. If he grabs my arm and orders me then that's different.

LOL I'd disagree with that number.

You're telling me only one out of 100 cops does EVERYTHING BY THE BOOK?

I don't buy that, probably more like 10%, and probably AT LEAST one on every force.

Lots of cops on BS to varying degrees.

Thing is I can understand how hard it probably is to walk that straight and narrow.

It's my understanding many cops get pressured by gangs and things of that nature.

That's aside from the potential to abuse their power.

I don't think I could do it, too much of a temper and cameras everywhere.

That's why it's imperative they have to vet, and also monitor them better.

IMO it's a very human thing to lust for power, especially after you get a little taste.

It's very easy to say you wouldn't abuse that power if you're not actually in that position.

Ex. Some guy spits in my face I'm almost certainly gonna punch him in the face unless someone intervenes.

Never comply with an unlawful command.

The more you guys comply the more your rights will be eroded.

I will politely decline any and all verbal requests by police that are unjustified.

You are searching for a legal answer. I would search for a reasonable answer. It's reasonable to just talk to the cop and see what he needs. If you do anything else you have now probably given him reasonable suspicion to detain you. But miscers gone misc so go ahead and be a badass. What could go wrong?

Just exercise your 5th amendment right to remain silent. If you get arrested so be it, if you did nothing wrong there's no need to worry.

One isn't allowed to walk away from an authority figure or disobey any command. That's why abuse of authority is a crime - they have all the power and your respect is a mental weakness required by law. You're not allowed to sass at authority or be disrespectful in any way. So, if you see a cop, be aware you might get shot. Law enforcement officers are of course most often heroes, but avoiding being seen by them in the first place (and any other power trip human) is the smartest strategy. Profs also force generations of students to give blow jobs and are most often not caught, or if caught, the weaker one is blamed for efficiency purposes. Sad but true.

I go and I talk politely to them, if you are not breaking the law, the police is actually helpful, so I don't understand the rage some people have against them. Brb losing lives and having a chitty job to protect the citizens while they always ask questions like ''why do I have to legitimate myself? why do I have to do x and y if I'm not charged?'' . It would be more efficient if you cooperate for 5 mins, but nah, people hate thinking.
