10/10 security features being added
Great new iMac segment

Apple's gonna Apple with the pricing but they should have said something like "due to the innovated tech we had to create for the stand, the stand will be sold separately and the price will be announced at a later date" to not take away from all the incredible things they announced. As this thread(as well as all mainstream media outlets) shows, now nobody cares about any of the other cool things like a new OS for ipads, system0wide dark mode, 10/10 security features added throughout apple products, etc etc. Now everybody is fixating on that stupid AF stand.

Shame on apple for allowing that.

This. If the monitor delivers then it will change the industry. Brb 6k for monitors that typically cost 40k+. LOL at idiots that are comparing this monitor against their 1440p 27in Acer and think they're in the same realm. Two completely different target audiences boyo

Displays? You'd be surprised. Yes they do. From my experience, the more expensive they get, the more prone to failure.

I still can't get over the retards ITT

>Apple makes a monitor to compete with reference monitors that consumers are buying for 30-$40k
>Apple makes one for $5k
>People who aren't in the market for this bitch about it

I do agree that the stand is overpriced though. I'm not arguing with anyone about that.

This is like a Prius driver complaining that someone pays for a $300k ferrari. Apple isn't marketing this out to your average consumer just like Ferrari isn't marketing their vehicles to the average consumer.

It's perfectly fair to bitch about the stand for reasons I stated in my post. But the monitor? If it delivers? Even if it's as good as a 20k reference monitor let alone a 40+k one, it changes the industry.

They aren't even in the same ballpark. This will be closer to like the Dell 8k than a true $20k+ reference monitor.

I totally understand the monitor itself is NOT for 99% of people. The cost of the stand however is pure LOL. Even the audience thought it was idiotic. The stand itself looks like it will fall over if you bump it!

We'll see. I don't care either way but it's not "overpriced" against your typical $200-600 monitor. It's competing against the $4,000-40,000 monitors so it will come down to performance to see where it falls for value in that range

Pretty sure even Ferrari would have issues with its average customer if they sell steering wheel separately for $100k.

Why is is blasted on their homepagehttps://apple.comthough, if it's for such a niche market?
Or is the market actually huge?

Lol at the miscers in here who don’t understand jack squat about monitors and think because there gaming monitor is 240hz it’s better.... it’s just better for gaming.
The average contrast ratio for most monitors is 1300:1. This is 1,000,000:1
The average sustained brightness for most monitors is between 200-400 Nits. This sustains 1000.

This isn’t a gaming monitor, this is for professional photo and video editing which 60hz is more than enough.

The stand is silly but most people will probably be purchasing multiple monitors and wall mounting them.

This thing will look better than LG OLED TVs by a wide margin.

Apple hasn’t done anything really mind boggling since the iPhone, but the tech in this monitor will be comparable to what apple did for the cell phone.
And if you don’t understand what any of that means, well not to worry, there are plenty of other idiots for you to talk to about it.
*Updated* If you can't hit a 320 yard drive, are you even a man?

People understand, but we still know fanboys and tech Dads are gonna buy it, when they really don't need to. Those are the people we make fun of.

I'm glad they will though, and I'm happy about this product. This will push competition and advancement in the market and eventually prices will come down.

Based on what? On paper this looks closer to $30k reference monitors.

They could have just included the stand for $6k and no one would have raised an eyebrow but good thing they didn't cause I'm guessing most of their target audience already have a stand.

You're either stupid or disingenuous.

Let's compare it to the dell 8k that you said

Dell UP3218K $3,899.99
Contrast Ratio1300:1
Brightness 400 cd/m²

Apple $5,000
Contrast Ratio 1,000,000:1
Brightness 1000 cd/m² sustained

Those specs in themselves make the comparison pointless as the apple monitor is already astronomically better than the monitor you suggest it compare to.

You might be trolling but whatever I guess. I'll go with you're just stupid.

You're fuking retarded lmao. You're comparing contrast ratio and brightness and that is it. Just lmao.

$40,000 broadcast reference monitors are the monitors used in new control rooms where you are actually "monitoring" critical on-air video. Even if you knew nothing about them, an idiot can simply compare inputs and outputs of the two and know they aren't even in the same class of product. 12G SDI vs a few USB-C ports...just fuking lmao. The apple will be used for photo and video editing that any idiot can do at home, just like the Dell.

Can't wait to see CNN revamp their control room because Apple put out a new monitor. Apple fed you a bunch of bullsht, comparing contrast ratio and brightness to a $40k product, with no other real comparison, and you jumped all over it. You're the reason they can get away with selling $1000 stands.

Edit: And are you THAT clueless to think that Apple somehow figured out a way to produce the same quality product for $5k that Sony can only do for $40k. I just don't even....

Content that is created with that monitor will only look good on that monitor.

So whats the point.

Your monitor/tv will still look dark as shiit cause these regular panels just don't have the contrast to compete.

Dawg are you srs? Do you really think that Apple found some groundbreaking technology that can offer the same or better performance that Sony's 40k screen and they'd sell it for 5k? It's Apple that we're talking about not some Chinese Huawei. They'd sell it for 80k if they could.
