Then go on instagram and see all the celebrities they follow living their ideal life. The idea of "community" barely exists anymore as everyone is working different hours, 7 days a week. We know we're completely expendable, just a cog in a machine, providingourlabour so a small minority of people can get even richer while we survive off peanuts. Of course, we get depressed and a lot of people don't have the support network around them to help them out of the rut that is modern life.

A lot of people can put it down to "men not being men anymore!" but I think a lot of this is projection and a failure to look at the bigger picture. Nobody is stopping you from doing masculine activities; Weightlifting, boxing, MMA, car modification. The problems are systemic, a lot of us simply don't feel like we provide any value to the world.
Still some smart people here. Very insightful in comparison to one sided argument " man up beta"

Life is hard when you can't get in your vidya and chicken tendies brought to you on a platter 24/7. But the simplest explanation I have is the whole argument that humans are a tribal specials by nature, and despite all the technological advancements designed to connect the world, we've somehow become more isolated from each other in the process. Just cogs in a capitalist world brah

I've lived mostly without my dad around, grew up around people who were in the same or worse spot, and can say I agree 100% with all the studies showing that growing up in a single mother household will most likely set you up for failure.

But noooooo. Good luck convincing 100% left leaning feminist ass licking media that anything other than "you go girl" or "you don' need no man" media isn't sexist.
Dude, if you actually try and google single mom statistics, you'll get a ton of articles from bs news sources like buzzfeed and wapo, quoting 'studies' that glorify single moms/parents, saying things like "kids from single moms actually get the same grades in kindergarten, proof that single moms are doing it right!!1" The best part is, they never link the actual study so you have to take their word as truth.

It's asinine how pushed it is despite numerous legitimate studies showing the struggles of kids from single parents.

It's a very real thing that exists, but I have not once heard someone cheerlead over a single parent household.
That sounds like a pretty nifty world. Maybe I should have been born in a more upscale or possibly whiter environment. Unfortunately my experiences with single motherhood involve lots of man bashing and moms being touted as heroes for doing basic parenting even though there is no man around. There is no shame at all. Many of these young girls were not even taught why being a single mom is something that should BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS.

Nope. I grew up around entitled welfare leeches that expected the government to fund their inability to buy basic birth control.

And what do you watch that ever portrays single motherhood in a bad light? Fox news? Hell, how many shows and movies have a mom and kid/kids and don't even FEATURE a father figure?

My wife is part of several mom groups on ******** and is horrified at some of the things she reads about the single moms there. Women not wanting their kids dad's around for petty reasons is very real, and the "you go girl attitude" is the most prevalent response in these situations.

Maybe the people you know aren't part of the "single motherhood is perfectly fine" group, but surely you jest when you say you don't see it in media.

I feel many ways about this but much of the sentiment has been reiterated in this thread many times:

- Lack of direction/purpose in men's lives now.
- Men are treated as disposable.
- Men's emotions are disregarded in some shape or form.

I don't think men do this to each other BTW, but we may not know how to deal with our issues or even have male friends that are emotionally capable of handling a friend with emotional issues. Women on average are more emotionally intelligent than men in that regard, emote, and communicate things better than men. I think we are getting around to that too.

Society disregarding our feelings and emotions is certainly true even in families. Even the attacks on simply being a man in modern times is more than enough to drive some men to suicide.

As to avoiding single motherhood โ€œat all costsโ€ where do you draw the line though? What if the dad is cheating or abusive or has addictions? Is it then also best for the mom to accept that to keep the family together?
Of course it depends on the situation. Sometimes life sucks and you're forced into a situation where you're forced to be a single mom. This applies to wive's who are in bad marriages for whatever reason. My post isn't about them. It's about little Suzy Sloot that spreads her legs for Chad and says "fuk it" when he says he doesn't have a condom. It's about the girls I've met personally who say they want to have another baby and literally do not care about having a dad around. They are out there, they feel no shame or remorse, and society enables their chitty decisions.

I don't watch that trash. You shouldn't either. TV is not reality, 99% of the time.

Is Teen Mom really glorifying it? I thought the purpose was to show how absolute chit being an unwed teen mom is or am I naive? Jeez.
When it turns them into celebrities what do you think happens? 12 year olds are watching this dreaming about being the next Farah Abraham. But I guess you don't know who that is since you never read any major magazines or watch anything on television.

I'm not heavily into social media, but young girls absolutely are. The young girls of today are the most heavily affected by tv and social media. They will lap up whatever they are told to lap up. For those who's dads aren't even around, the situation is even worse. They LOOK UP TO KIM FUKKING KARDASHIAN FFS.

Just because you don't see it doesn't mean there is no problem. We can both avoid social media all day long, but life is still happening around us, and we have to pay attention.

The reed that does not bend will break.

So many young men who refuse to set realistic goals, adapt to situations, etc. Not everyone can be a model, and a millionaire. They want only 10/10 women. They think life should be exactly how they want it to be.

Older generations knew life has hard parts. For them it was mostly hard. We have it so much better off but people need to wake up and appreciate that, set realistic goals and achieve them incrementally over time.

For people who cannot adapt on their own, they need therapy or medication. Period.

Men refuse to adapt (which is needed for any organism to survive) and refuse to seek help that they need. Thatโ€™s why they kill themselves.

People need to focus on being the best version of themselves and focus on achieving realistic goals. Comparisons and thinking youโ€™re โ€œspecialโ€ only brings misery.

The internet is not helping at all either; creating constant comparison between lives and relationships where a pessimistic view is often brought out when one might be viewing the highlights that other people put out there. TV is not reality. Social media is not reality. The internet is not fukn reality, but for many of these guys who are socially awkward or unhappy in real life, the internet is their reality.

God so many people try to 'flex' on social media. Not to mention something like IG is focused around likes, how many "followers" you have, etc. it makes people feel inadequate. Especially when people are propping up their perfect selves for the camera. It is somewhat disgusting. Knowing some of these type of people IRL they will follow people to get them to follow and then unfollow them. It's funny.

I sometimes question being in the tech industry as to whether or not our technological advances are actually helping people or making their lives worse.

I don't think that this being unrealistic in one's goals and aspirations can attribute to the high suicide rates that are plaguing young men right now.

I do agree that many men do not work on seeking help when needed though.

You're right, things I might not see are still a problem. Still, I don't know that it's a problem that affects suicide rates in young men. We are blaming women for men's problems and I've heard enough of that. Teen Mom is not why young men are killing themselves. Single mothers are not why men are killing themselves. It's all a bunch of excuses. I can hear you screaming in frustration, LOL. I stand by it, though.
You are looking at things in isolation. None of those things individually are a problem.

A society built on rewarding this backward assed thinking is the problem. Too many safety nets for dumb sloots who just need to spread their legs. Zero safety nets for young men. Maybe if dads got automatic custody and sloot moms got sent to prison for not paying child support things would be different. I guarantee that generation of kids would be way better off.

False.

You areinitially judged on your looks alone.

Men will have zero interest if you are unattractive (fat, bad skin/teeth, poor bone structure, etc.) You can blame biology and nature for that. If you are attractive, men will interact with you. You will either be nice/interesting or plain/boring/a bitch. With one option they'll want to date, they other just fukc you.

It's really not that complicated.

For men you need hairline, jaw, bone structure, height, muscles, personality, wits, money, intellect, social circle, dick size, etc. No e-brag, but I'm easily in the top 5% (if not higher) and I sometimes look at those 5'4 balding manlets making 50k with zero friends and I'd honestly consider suicide, so those stats aren't surprising in the least.

You're right, things I might not see are still a problem. Still, I don't know that it's a problem that affects suicide rates in young men. We are blaming women for men's problems and I've heard enough of that.Teen Mom is not why young men are killing themselves. Single mothers are not why men are killing themselvesIt's all a bunch of excuses. I can hear you screaming in frustration, LOL. I stand by it, though.
We're all speculating. Single motherhood is correlated with many negative effects on people. How can you say with such certainty that this does not contribute to suicide?
I'm back, bitches!

I sometimes question being in the tech industry as to whether or not our technological advances are actually helping people or making their lives worse.
Funny because I am in the tech industry as well and have the same thoughts. I talked to a girl once who had around 20k followers on instagram and she had hundreds of the same pictures of herself in her camera roll; trying to get the perfect angle on her phone for instagram. I mean can you imagine the mental autism it takes to take the same picture over and over again and then also scroll through each one to decide which you like best?

She was also borderline depressed outside of the app. Didn't last long between us lol.

LOL yeah dude. There was a girl that showed interested in me in 2018 that I was kind of interested in also but something was...off about her. I went on a date with her and we sort of fizzled but we had mutual acquaintances through jiu jitsu.

Anyway you look at her IG it's riddled with a bunch of selfies and every life event of hers. She lost her grandmother last month and said she was going to get off social media for at least a month.

10 days later she's back to the same behavior. Sort of sad because she is attractive but is probably insecure to some sort of degree. My girl is a bookwork and hardly on social media.

Nothing but masturbatory fuel for the morons among us who wouldn't know the difference between the truth and a lie if it bit them in the ass. It's pathetic to spend all of your time wondering who is behind your own fixable fukup. Strong people don't spend all their time wondering why, they are hyperfocused and move towards the solvable. The why is irrelevant, in my opinion. The best part is some of you deluded idiots will legit think this is another example of feminism ruining women and not acting feminine or something equally retarded and that's why suicide is on the rise. Blame, blame, blame.
Calling people idiots yet to dumb to see it's a bigger and more complex problem than just "man up". No wonder you don't want to debate, you know you're selling the same old bull****. Men are waking up though

โ€œThis nothingness into which the West is sliding is not the natural end, the dying, the sinking of a flourishing community of peoples. Instead, it is again a specifically Western nothingness: a nothingness that is rebellious, violent, anti-God, and antihuman. Breaking away from all that is established, it is the utmost manifestation of all the forces opposed to God. It is nothingness as God; no one knows its goal or its measure. Its rule is absolute. It is a creative nothingness that blows its anti-God breath into all that exists, creates the illusion of waking it to new life, and at the same time sucks out its true essence until it soon disintegrates into an empty husk and is discarded. Life, history, family, people, language, faithโ€”the list could go on forever because nothingness spares nothingโ€”all fall victim to nothingness.โ€

โ€• Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Ethics

The problem is that the illusion we have been fed has now become so completely detached from reality, that people either retreat into magical thinking or swallow the red pill and become doomers.

-The lack of true purpose.

-The greed.

-The consumerism treadmill and debt expansion, all in the name of "growth", which apparently is the purpose of our societies, even in the face of accelerating environmental and ecological breakdown.

-The out of control asset prices, particularly real estate, while wages stagnate and the real economy is cannibalized to enrich Wall Street speculators and vultures.

-The social media attention whoring.

-The breakdown of the family structure.

-The shallowness, political correctness and double standard we observe all around us. From politics, to academia, to social media.

-The overpopulation and out of control immigration. More pressure on crumbling infrastructure, which is just gonna continue to worsen.

-The reality TV-show that we call politics and public dialogue coupled with a media that that continues to peddle the fiction of hope and redress through a quarter of high GDP growth or otherwise meaningless statistics or entertainment.

I think alot of people today sense that something is deeply wrong, and for good reason. It is just a confluence of factors that are adding up, and at this point the breaking point seems nigh. I truly wonder how long it can go on without some violent readjustment.

"It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society."

I quite disagree with this a lot. And im not trying to apply this to mean that someone who commits suicide didnt choose to do so. Literally havent read the thread, Im just directing it toward that statement itself

Id agree once theyre 18+ but im not racking my brain to think of all the other scenarios where it might apply

I had an overbearing father. I tried not to listen to him but he was a control freak. And if i "talked back" i was in more trouble.

So, again, less than 18, your statement doesnt really apply to me. And im sure there are more scenarios
