Businesses exist to make money. If they could replace you with a cheaper robot they would, no hesitation.
Thank god the government stepped in because they would find poor saps and pay lowest possible wages while working fools to death.
Literally, they made children 12 and under work for dirt.

In Nazi Germany if any company was found guilty of disrespecting or mistreating its employees the owners would simply be removed from their positions and their business given to someone else.
It was against the law for an employer to treat workers like **** just because he owned the business.

On the other side of the argument most people I've worked with and for were massive idiots that didn't belong there in the first place.

If it wasn't for government, I feel liked we'd still be working 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. The fact that government had to intervene shows you how bad they are. And there shouldn't be a discussion for Universal Basic Income if these employers really cared about people.

In white collar jobs at least, my biggest gripe is fking facetime.
My team could legit take a 2 hour lunch, but still be finished working by 3. Good thing is, my manager is more lenient this time.
Hazing culture in some companies need to stop.
in my old job:
-brb boss says "hey please update these marketing materials and excel models for the very important pitch, need done and sent by morning, don't spend all night tho tnx"
-brb work takes all night
-brb talk to my senior coworker about how this pitch must be so important
-brb send this 60+ powerpoint to boss in the morning, he replies "looks good" 5 minutes later LOL
-senior says "no, he's taking a vacation today, he does this sometimes"

lot of people who got laid off at my company recently, some who had been with the company for 15 - 20 years, got good retirement packages. I guess it depends on where you work / the industry you work in. oil and gas usually gives good packages and early retirement
You guys, I'm seriously

Sweatshops exists.
Corporations since the beginning of the industrial revolution, have no problem with child labour.. Rather than pay the adults enough to take care of a family, they want to employee children...
https://www.ethicaltrade.org/issues/child-labour
Buildings that collapse - making products for corporations - in developing countries that kill people, because the corporations didn't care about regularly inspecting buildings and keeping them up to code.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...arment-factory
Corporations working their employees literally to the point of a mental breakdown and suicide.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foxconn_suicides
Without regulation corporations historically have been fine with not providing employees with; low pay, regular breaks, long hours, bitter job references - effectively blacklisting an employee - unsafe working conditions, etc.
The Libertarian theory is that corporations given free reign will treat their employees well because it's in their economic interest, however reality - as we can see in various sweatshops around the world, where the state doesn't regulate employee conditions - shows that corporations will treat their employees as bad as they can get away with.
I have no idea why anti-regulation people ignore the decades upon decades of historical evidence, showing that corporations will treat employees like crap if they can get away with it.
I highly, highly recommend watching this documentary...

If I run a corporation I wouldn't give a **** about employers to srs. My goal is to make as much money as possible for me and the shareholders, so I would squeeze every little work out of you for as little as possible. Especially if you are easily replaceable srs. Wallmart and Mcdonalds CEO are goals.

Face it, if you're on the bottom of the pyramid at work, you're simply expendable, so why should you be treated well? Maybe people should stop bitching, and climb the ladder....or start their own business where they can treat their employees "well."

You honestly think that's practical advice for people in developing countries?
