I haven't tried to dunk in years but I'm sure I still could. I have an 8'1" standing reach so I don't have to jump that high. My wingspan is only 6'6" but I have a really short neck so my shoulders are a lot higher up than most people my height

I could in college. Can grab the rim now or drop the ball in but can't dunk anymore. Rip. I'm 6'2 for reference. Once had a buddy that was 6'5 and couldn't touch the rim. Blew my mind.

6'1" and maybe can touch the rim. 10 years ago i could grab the rim, but never dunk cuz i can't palm the ball and have dry hands so there's zero grip to even attempt.

That is definitely part, but I think jumping is more about technique and leg drive.

The bad jumpers seem to not be able to link the full chain together. Conservation of momentum, Quad firing, claves firing, and leg drive.

The weight also is often an issue. My legs are significantly stronger than they were in high school. I also weigh 60 lbs more.

This does 2 things. First is obviously that I need to generate more force to overcome the increased mass. Secondly, I have lost the ability to transition my horizontal momentum into vertical momentum.

Can not do the Horse Box thingy and Dunk - that's impossible both at same time - unless was Sat on it (and it'd be un-comfy for a prolonged time) and I was throwing the Ball round in rotation to Team-mates - know that would be like epic, epic x 10000

He refuses to play AAU ball and sticks to posting youtube vids playing against scrubs lmao. He gets millions of views and is a hero to manlets everywhere, but yeah, likely a scrub at the college level.

Technique improvements are easily taught and readily available.

Easy couple inches are on the table with a few weeks of training.

The harder thing is transitioning horizontal momentum to vertical once you are heavier and your knees are torn apart.

Always had a pretty good vert for a big guy and can still 2 hand it although I’m 6’8. When I was in college I got one down off a drop step at 380 lbs (my playing weight), was one of the sweetest athletic feats I’ve ever pulled off.

Edit: rolled my ankle pretty bad a possession or two later shooting a three with nobody anywhere near me so that took away from the awesomeness of the dunk and coach told us we couldn’t play city league ball anymore after that.

I could put it in two handed from 17-20. I don't play often anymore, but after a warm up I can get a WNBA caliber dunk in if I'm lucky. If i quit being a fatass I could probably get back to some regular one handed ones.
