There is no flu vaccine and we get along just fine.

It will be used as a political tool for liberals in the future, They know they can bust it out and control us whenever they want.

Keep in mind that they all work for rich people. Once those rich people start pressuring them to open stuff up they will have no choice.|

Big business, hedge fund guys will actually be the ones who save us and get stuff back to normal.

Initially they will keep acting like there is some real threat but peoples eyes are open now and we know its just a bad flu. They cant keep things locked down forever even though they want to.

What will happen is this will magically come back closer to the election so they can us it against trump. same thing they have been doing all along.

Am i the only one that remembered how quickly the swing flu vaccine took? It took only months before they made it, half a year till it was fully rolled out for the winter, i dont understand why they wont fast track the vaccine like they did before.

the first shut down was stated to be to flatten the curve, to avoid a very large spike in hospitalizations in a short period of time, like what happened in Italy where they ended up having to ration equipment and just let oldcels die without attempting to treat them. Once we re-open IMO we should not close down again even if there is another spike in hospitalizations. If you didn't take the time to build up your hospital capacity, then fck you. We can't have chit shut down for more than another month before it starts spiraling even worse economy wise.

Pretty irrelevant. We need effective treatment for the fatal autoimmune response that results from this virus attacking people that can't properly fend it off.

This isn't even jut a case of COVID-19 either. There will be pandemics in the future with similar pathogens. Effective treatments for COVID-19 will help with future outbreaks, a vaccine only helps just this once.

Tricking the immune system into killing something you never actually contracted is not a one size fits all process. Sometimes its stupid easy, like giving people a related but harmless pathogen. Sometimes its a little f-ing bastard like influenza and you can't pin it down well at all.

"Vaccine" is the word you will see hammered on because that is the toughest nut to crack.

I was all for the lockdown when this started but like many others I have changed my position after seeing the numbers.

We should have paid the people at risk to stay home, quarantined the people with positive tests and let everyone else keep the economy working.

The fallout from crippling the economy will be worse than the lives we saved by locking everyone down.

what if during this long marination and spread, it evolves again, into an even more potent virus with some weird mutations that dont have the benefits of only harming old people.

what if it mutates and gets worse in an unforeseen way. its already adapted compared to flu because its more contagious, what if it also become more compatible and more consistently deadly and becomes even harder to stop.

Its bad now but we are lucky it has certain variables

-only old people
-only if its not too dry and hot
-only by touch and to a much lesser degree aerosols and living on surfaces

What if all those went away and it infected everyone, old or young, sick or healthy, in any temperature even where its hot and fully transferred by just aerosols and being in the room and much faster....

It would be creepy and a true threat on a mass scale.

for sure. i went to the hospital ER last weekend for an injury and I was pretty much the only person there. was the only one in the waiting room.. the problem is when they open public places up again. the goal is herd immunity in the end, just not the way other countries have done it

if they open things up again now... and every panic kunt goes to the hospital for a fever... the people who really need emergency treatment (related to covid-19 or unrelated) won't get it. probably why so many old people were dying in the beginning cause they don't get treatment fast enough

if anything the mass panic and hysteria is the problem here, media is definitely is not helping with that

i also did go to a doctor's clinic for my injury first... wait was 2 hours to see a doctor, and even then there was a slim chance of seeing one. so i said screw it and went to the hospital after an hour.

It does'nt just affect old people - all ages can contract it!!

This.

The US economy isn't built to survive lockdowns.

We needed to lockdown to save our hospitals from being overrun and build up enough time to do have an infrastructure in place.

If we don't have this now we're fuked.

So I looked into this and typically viruses mutate into less virulent forms. The reason makes sense even if not intuitive at first.

If you are sick as hell, you stay home and spread a virus less. If you feel fine, you spread it more.

This is why people catch the common cold over and over and don't die.

that statement is misleading. The point is to phrase it in a way that gives it proper context.

Something like the majority percentage of people who die from it are over 85 but there were a few outliers who weren't that old that had complications.

as opposed to plain broad and intellectually dishonest and incomplete: all ages can contract it.

Do you see the difference?

Everyone catches it but only people that can't fight it off get the complications that kill you. There is a direct correlation between age and your ability to stop the virus from getting that far.
