Trying to get my son in to preschool, doesn't start until 9/17 though, in person, in the morning only.

Op, my kids are going back 50% of the time. There are 2 groups of kids and they alternate which day they go in and which day is virtual.

On days they go in, they are in a class of 20, and that same class navigates from room to room throughout the day in a herd to keep them exposed to only the same 20 kids all year.

I don't expect the schools that open will stay open through the whole year. So I think it is probably less disruptive (not ideal, yes the isolation sucks) to just do remote/virtual. That's the plan for my daughter who is starting 9th grade.

But for small kids virtual is really crap and if you can homeschool, maybe in small groups with other parents, then that would be better IMO.

I would say homeschool > remote learning > interrupted/chaotic school year. Because I also think that maintaining (or trying to) all the extra requirements will be very stressful on children and could affect how the younger ones feel about school long term.

100% in classroom.

I live in an area with small community schools, so only kids from the immediate surrounding blocks attend - everyone knows everyone. The kids have played together all summer, so going back is no different than normal.

Schools are easing kids slowly to ease the psycological stress.

I'm in this zone atm. Kids are going nuts, some sort of half a year experiment to see if small humans can tolerate not seeing/interacting with others.

Fuk the teachers. They chose their profession just like the cash register clerk at the grocery store the teachers have been shopping at since the pandemic started.

Why would teachers be special? Why do they deserve special consideration?

The cash register lady doesn't get a free pass on work. I've worked every day since the pandemic started. I don't give a chit about the teachers, and I have sister and 3 cousins who are teachers. Go the fuk back to work.
