I'm currently in a good Taekwondo school (rural, not many options) and the hand techniques drive me bonkers, they just aren't practical outside of breaking boards. The kicking though is amazing, very powerful... but like you say, kicking in a street fight yikes.

Over the last few years there have been great examples of traditional martial art kicking being used in MMA... the big issue with TMA is that you don't get the hard sparring that comes along with combat sports.

While I think Bruce lee was great, Tyson stomps. Unless Bruce manages to land one or a few very solid leg kicks before, but with Tyson's reach advantage and speed it would be hard plus I could see prime Tyson straight up tanking those shots and still going for a solid KO. Besides, street fight? Mike bit off a Evander Holyfield's ear in a ring. Now imagine the guy in a street fight.

At least Seagal is a 7th dan black belt in aikido. Bruce Lee has no credentials whatsoever. Not even a yellow belt.

to be fair, Lee (at his peak training from his day) probably gets wrecked by any pro level fighter in his weight class

Bruce Lee was a Martial artist, not an MMA fighter, nor a tournament fighter. He was an actor.

Mike Tyson was one of the greatest boxers of all time, with arguably one of the strongest punches in the game, and more speed than anyone his size has any right to be. He got into real fights growing up, and his career was actual fights vs other trained people. He has actual fighting experience, and dominated.

There is no ****ing contest here.

He wouldn't even be able to beat amateur fighters, simply based on the fact that Bruce Lee is not a fighter. He's a martial arts philosopher and actor. Funny thing is thats how the argument in that QT movie started i think. Bruce Lee was claiming hed beat Muhammad Ali and Brad Pitt's character just couldnt hold his laughter lol.


Its the same thing really, just less technique and a bit more power, but its the same ****. I think Bruce Lee would die in less than 2 minutes.
