I watched the first 3 episodes of season 3. It hasn't been as good as the prior 2 seasons.

OP - the show's setting is Los Angeles, so they do have a Mexican lead character. But they don't push any social justice stuff in your face.

I just binged it this weekend. I personally loved it. Partly because I grew up on Karate Kid and was about 8 years old when it came out (prime age for it).

I would say if you have time give it a look. It will hook you for sure. I mean it's not some deep thinking plot that you have to read too much into. Just casual dumb watching with a little bit of humor and a ton of nostalgia.

Misc hypes the crap out of it but in reality is it pretty cringey to say the least. The acting is poor to be honest. 5/10 show and I'm being generous.

Jesus Christ....I’m about as anti-SJW and anti-Woke as it gets and I loved it.

Yes it can be cheesy and yes a lot of the acting can be poor because it’s mostly child actors. But overall the writing is pretty good and it’s easy to watch. You can’t compare this show to something like Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad. That’s not what it is. It’s an easy/fun show to watch that has some nostalgia to it and can be pretty damn funny at times.

Mexican kid has been in since season 1. Pre Netflix

Season 3 was filmed, pre Netflix

The show is good, novelty has started to wear off however and the director seems to be focusing on being slick/cheesy but only halfway through season 3.

some of the acting is pretty chitty, like Sam is a chit actress, when she is making small talk in scenes the acting is pretty cringe, almost looks like if you took a random person off the street and told them to go act out this scene... but its still a goat show overall. its funny and makes fun of modern culture a lot.

oh ok, yeah makes sense season 3 was filmed before netflix bought it, because i think they only bought it summer 2020. was worried about them ruining it but makes sense now that it seems the same.

netflix goes over the top with the ****gy chit, like every fuking show has a forced gay/bi/lesbian character or multiple ones of them. I wouldnt care if it fit naturally but its so over the top forced. brb horror show series, brb must have atleast 2-3 lesbian couples and interracial couples, so fuking stupid. They even made Dracula gay and dracula's son bisexual.

However, Mexico is really run by white "Spanish" people who are European. So, there really is no one type of Mexican. However, most in the US are typically Native American or mixed.

I lived in Denver for several years and most of the Mexicans there are yuppie types who hate illegals. So, they are a mixed bunch.
