This.

Regarding combat sports lifting weights doesn't make you weaker, but focusing on barbell and dumbbell lifting may not be the best way of training strength that translates to athletic endeavours...

I've noticed that some people really only recommend barbell and dumbbell lifting for things like combat sports bulking up, or for injury prevention.

Though there are plenty of wrestlers who lift heavy...

Nope, nothing. Maybe some like 60-70lbs sandbag work. Another example, persian and indian wrestlers, you would say they do a ton of deadlifts and powercleans - nope, pure bodyweight maybe some clubbbells and mace swings etc but thats whatever.

This got me thinking. YES lifting weights makes you stronger but the caveat is IT MAKES YOU STRONGER IN THAT SPECIFIC PLANE OF MOVEMENT WHILST YOU ARE PUSHING OR PULLING AGAINST THE RESISTANCE OF A 1-2 inch cylinder (barbell/dumbbell) in your hand.
Its a VERY SPECIFIC movement and you only get stronger on the squat or bench press what have you.

This in effect, deprives you of your real strength that you WOULD have had. Ie your leg or back or chest muscles could function to a more global fuller function of strength rather than just focusing on that specific movement or plane. Thus strength training actually makes you weaker, just not at that specific movement.

Machines are even worse, of course. Some here might say “but olympic lifting helps people jump higher” - no it doesn't. Or heavy squats make people jump higher, no it doesn't. Just like bench pressing doesn’t make people punch stronger.

Cliffs:

- OP thinks about lifting weights and why it is so rampant in societies now.
- realises people are sheep
- arnold and other influencers have literally worked magic to convince us that lifting weights is great and makes you strong
- OP uses the “they” of the worlds cancel culture on THEMSELVES
Your OP is a little narrow-minded and it's not quite as simple as that.

Also, you could have a tall, white broad-shouldered white European male, who is taller and more muscly than, for example, Usain Bolt and then runs quicker and breaks the world record in, for example, the hundred meter sprint. Nothing is ever as simple as you have clearly made it out to be...

OP is right.

Here we can se Larry Wheels losing an arm wrestling battle vs an average 70 kg Pajeeter:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dnJbpIFWziU

Just lol @ Larry Wheels lifting and roiding all his life. All these calories consumed, all the protein farts released, all the time spend unclogging the toiled from all the phat schits and you can even scratch your back. Imagine the sum of all tonnage lifted in his bodybuilding career.

And all of this for what? Every time he loses he is laughing nervously like an some kind of low test beta bish. He can't even handle the stone cold face of that ****** and he can't escape his industrial grade vise grip.

Imagine if that ****** actually took cell tech the amount of Larry did, he would probably break his arm bones Into pieces.

Just LOL at spending time in gym.

Obviously poor bait but arm wrestling and most sports in this world are heavily technique based

Nope. It takes a month to learn the technique, but it takes many many years to build that strength. Hell, you can't even apply the most techniques if don't have the strength basis already built, because you will heavily injure yourself or just fail at doing so.

Basically there were some great athletes and warriors before the barbell and weight training machines etc,

The evidence comes out more
And more that the best way to train is JUST DO YOUR SPORT
