It was pretty good around the time I joined. Big H hung out like one of us. 97lt1 a little more mature but still a miscer. mods in OJ and workout sections were active and helpful. Way back mods were part of the community. It feels like today trolls are chittier and more abusive, and mods come across to me as being worn down from dealing with it.

There is truth to this. There was a period of time where the modding here was complete trash. I don't know how many were perma'd but many left because nobody could post anything fun without getting negged or a temp ban. This was the opposite of the misc of old where the place was outrageous and outrageously entertaining. Internet forums in general are dying but I am a firm believer that the modding here greatly accelerated any natural decline.

Just since I've been here there's so many posters that are gone or I rarely see.
The alt sandman chit doesn't help either when 1/4 of the threads are garbage started by some ******* with a 2021 join date.
I've often thought about applying for mod status just to clear that ******* out.

No disrespect to some users in here, but despite being here for years they can't even embed an image or link. Do you think the current generation have the mental capacity to learn the ins and outs of a forum?
The "misc" and other forums are too complex for the average shmuck to pick up. On top of that forums are really made for PCs (for full functionality). Browsing forums on a mobile is do-able, but not pleasant.

There's no way to "save the misc" without copying existing platforms.
4chan is predominantely PC based, but because of the nature of the platform, anonymity and nopopularity, chit like whiteknighting, popularity contests etc don't exist (to the same degree as other platforms).

It can’t be bots. The level of interaction that a bit would need to do, would be extremely sophisticated AI. It would have to interpret entire sentences, understand the topic and context, in order to interact and fool users. We don’t have self aware AI so any bots would easily be discovered.

They're referred to as NPC's. There isn't much difference between them and bots. Both require programming and are only capable of the same repeated thoughts.
