So I've actually driven the new NSX and "heavy" is the last thing that comes to mind. I don't care what the spec sheet says it weighs, I mean in how it feels to drive.

It's basically a budget 918 Spyder.

The ability for it to correct mid-corner and it's strength on corner exit is very impressive. As is the transmission.

The engine isn't exactly inspiring though. Twin turbo V6 is not the formula for an exotic sound.

I mean it's not a bad car but... comparing it to a 918 is just like... no. There is a good reason why it wasn't a big hit.

It also seems like people who are real suckers for overpowered cars have a hard time noticing weight.

Why not? They're both mid-engined rear wheel drive supercars with electric front wheel power and torque fill rear wheel electric power. The NSX has 300 less horsepower, but is 1\5th of the price. Sounds like a baby 918 to me.

I haven't driven a Miata because I simply don't fit in a Miata, but I've got plenty of seat time in ~3200lb Porsches. I'm well aware of what weight does to a car

If you do not support them you support EVs, there are no 2 ways about this.

Hybrids currently have 2 huge problems, both of which will be resolved.

1. The weight of the batteries. This will be resolved with solid state batteries and the creation of hybrid batteries that are part solid state battery, part carbon based super-capacitors.
2. Hybrids for now are built by gluing conventional ICE to conventional transmissions and adding a bunch of EV torque. This is FAR from optimal. We need to see ICE and transmissions redesigned with the intention of being part of a hybrid drive training. You don't need a lot of cylinders or a lot of gears in a properly engineered hybrid, which will pull a lot of weight out.

All in all I support performance hybrids so the ICE can live on. I do not want dead silent performance cars that do literally everything for you.

The 918 is iconic but it is also representative of old school hybrid design. It was a fantastic first step, but cars like the Gemera by contrast represents where hybrid technology needs to go. The Gemera does the ICE and transmission completely differently because it is a car designed to be a hybrid from scratch.

They are getting better but it is what it is, you are buying a British car and its going to do British things.

Fortunately that seems to be just gremlins like windows that wont go up/down and then magickly start working again, not actual breakdowns.

My Lotus 400 has been mechanically rock solid but for about 6 months the trunk would not open on the first try, sometimes not at all. Then, for absolutely no reason, it went back to working perfectly and has ever since, because British.

McLaren and Lamborghini are the only real Ferrari competition.

The older lambos were nicer. Like the diablo, gallardo (last variant) and countach. They look cool now, but have less design element. Look at the huracan for example. Just one big curve for the whole car. Without a wing it doesn't look balanced.

I don't know man. I definitely want something like a lambo/ferrari. If I'm an engineer making 120k year trying to finance a supercar, its a different story to being a business owner making $500k/year.

The Huracan is going to be the supercar bargain of a lifetime in a few years. They will be fully depreciated and still super reliable. If I was a young guy wanting to work my way into my first legit supercar, the Huracan would be my first choice or if you want to go a bit more subtle, an R8 is the same car with different skin and less expensive.
