If you are not informed about cars and you want to buy a Mercedes or an Audi then I have sum bad newz.

I'm not even a car guy but watching tons of videos of different people and reading several things at least an informed decision can be made. C'mon man.

Bro, in your OP you said work is paying for mileage and gas. Is it that or are they paying for the car?
Which one is it?

Maybe they give you 50 cents a mile. That hardly covers "paying for the car" as you will need to account for maintenance, tires, insurance, depreciation, etc.

Don’t sleep on Lexus brad. Check out the IS/RC/GS/LS line ups and see what you think.

If going Benz I’d say skip the CLA for an E-Class.

BMW & Audi are just starting to look try hard in the US unless you have a real premium model.

OR you could get a corvette, you won’t be able to drive it in the snow but great mpg+tons of fun+reliable

I’m personally more preferential to the SUVs.

Last car was a G37, current car is an X5. If I take a group to lunch for whatever reason the X5 feels more professional and definitely has more space for people to get comfortable and not be jamming their laptops into a trunk.

Also I’m not fukking slalom racing down a mountain, the handling and performance is more than sufficient. Also the gas mileage difference is negligible. Once I get to 80mph on a flat freeway I get 30 gallons/mile+. Also insurance is going to be noticeably lower. But it’s personal preference.

I’ve dated girls with a Bentley GTR, Ferrari 488, a couple different maseratis, etc. and tbh, no matter how wealthy I get I’ll probably stick with an X5 for life and throw in a 911, and obviously a toy hauler.

How about a BMW F10 535ix? Buy a 2015-2017. The N55 engine is very solid and I think you would enjoy the car.

Also check out the Porsche 997 generation. It's within your price range and values have stabilized/are slowly increasing. Pretty solid cars.

In addition to making money on mileage, you also want to avoid getting taken to pound town on repairs and maintenance.

You don't want to buy a car that will have nearly $10,000 repair bills and the need to wait for parts to be ordered. Not to mention how faurked you'd be breaking down in the middle of nowhere. No mechanic is going to have the experience or the tools to work on the car.

Any novelty from the car will wear off within a month. In addition to cost, you also want something that isn't going to randomly suck up your time. By going cheapish you don't have to worry about huge repair costs, dents, rock chips, or depreciation. In 2-3 years when the car is used up, you can just dump it and buy a replacement.

I dunno why you would get luxury car only to put a bunch of miles driving all over Canada for work.

Luxury cars are not very reliable and repairs cost a ton. Not to mention luxury cars depreciate like mfer especially with high mileage. Maintenance is also high expect to pay 2-3x for oil changes compared to non luxury cars.

Get a new Toyota Camery for the money you will spend on a used luxury car. You will get warranty just in case , they are comfortable af , great on gas and last forever. New ones also look nice my neighbor has one and I thought it was a Lexus when I first saw it.

As a former AMG owner E55 & S55 - you are crazy to even entertain buying one with the intention of loading it up with miles. The maintenance costs are astronomical when you drive them around town. The E55 maintenance wasn't too bad, ate up rear tires, the only trouble was the drivers seat electronics stopped working and was a couple grand to get fixed - but the ride was stiff as fuk and is not something I want to hop on a highway and drive all day - The S55 was comfy as fuk but cost a fortune to maintain, the supercharger had a clutch on it that would make a squealing noise every time it engaged and I feel like I was replacing that every 12 months, the hydraulics that close the door failed a few times, seat bolsters stopped working, the suspension bags had to be replaced a few times. The only piece of chit bigger than my AMG's was my S550.... Done with Benz.

I knew a couple of wholesalers - they either drove Acura's or Lexuses. All of their cars were less than a few years old and had crazy high miles. I think they were doing close to 50,000 miles a year.

yeah I learned my lesson when I bought a 2001 bmw 7 series. It had 70k mile and I had to get it towed 3 times in one year then i sold it

Now i drive lexus/toyota/honda 4 life.

my civic has 150k miles and never left me stranded

my bro bought a lexus ls and same deal never had a probleam

My NEW S550 had an electrical gremlin. The first time it happened was the first time I tried to start it up after buying the night before. Just assumed that I killed it by setting up and playing with the infotainment the night before. Got a new battery and then it happened a few days later - eventually the dealer replaced all the batteries and the ECU and it was still fkd up - had it plugged into a charger every single night (while MBUSA tried to figure out a solution). It was a relief to get rid of it. Cant imagine that happening a a motel in the middle of Manitoba.

If I had to travel all over Canada I would drive a Acura MDX or similar Lexus. Best of speed / comfort / mpg / AWD / hybrid if you're into that.

Then you need to think of how it looks like showing up to a client in a luxury car. Would that benefit your business or hurt it? Most jobs I know seeing a salesman pull up flexing his wealth would put a huge damper on sales but maybe finance is different.
