If I exceed 135 pounds on squat it pinches out a nerve in my mid back . But doing lots of reps and sets is better than nothing.
I feel your wasting your time if you don’t build up your core , and it drives me crazy when I have setbacks.
Tom Platz says you can use any weight for squats , as long as you go too failure

Elite level PL and Strongmen know they’re compromising their bodies, but to them the tradeoff is worth it. But decades of natty strength training done properly is only going to improve your body.
Also agree with the squatting for more reps.

That said, if you’re not competing in anything strength related, I believe you can get all the benefits of squats without ever going below 5 reps. I’m just saying it’s notbadto go below that in the right context. A natty squatting 500 isn’t dangerous. Larry Wheels squatting 900 doped to the eyeballs with blood pouring out of his face is.

To the brahs who have good squats. Is there anything I can do for lower back pain when squatting? Even when the weight is super light I feel my lower back hurting. Is there any mobility/stretching to do to fix this? Will rep for help.

I dont because the specificity for bodybuilding purposes is terrible. If I want my quads bigger, I will do a standardized machine that will overload the quads more than any squat would because of secondary muscles engaging. If I can put 1000lbs on a leg press or pendulum leg press and have that whole load pressed by quads, they are receiving more growth stimulus than a squat would. I just split up quads hams and glutes, like I do pendulum leg press, free motion squat machine, leg press, leg extension for quads, RDLS, wide stance leg press/smith squats for glutes, leg curls and dumbbell stiff leg for hamstrings. Then I hit adductors every leg session.
Squats also come with a risk vs reward cost at a certain strength level just like bench and deadlift especially when you train every day to failure. It is different with powerlifting training and doing RIR or much lower volume or RPE.

I should mention that if I push off with my heels the correct way , I get extremely sharp pain in my knees shortly after .
It used to help doing box squats , where I always kept my leg straight below the knee , but even that is an issue now .
But if I push off with my toes (incorrect way) I don’t get nearly as much inflammation in the knees ?
Tried stretches and knee exercises, but to no avail . Also heard leg extensions and curls are not good exercises?
Probably time to ldar

I'd say, in order, lifts asked about would be:
- Bench (obviously)
- Squat
- Deadlift
- Dumbbell bench
