On a serious note, if you need money, then do it for the money. Meanwhile, find what you want to do, be good @ it, then monetise it. I doubt web design is something you really really want to do. I know many people in the industry, all are sleazebags, and web design is generally the chittest kind of IT you can get into. Web design is 99.95% sales and 0.05% actual design or IT as you've found out. I can understand doing python, or C++, do machine learning, mathematical problems or optimisation, those are actual cool stuff, rather than doing fukking php to do template websites, that some kid can learn doing their blogs and replace you tomorrow.

Money isn't everything either. I was a manager on 6 figures, but was going to rope, because the entire industry (accounting) is dogchit, but luckily my wife found out, and forced me to quit before roping. You need money to be happy, but the real question is how much, and how much you're willing to sell yourself doing something you hate. Don't spend too much, and keep your life simple. If you need 6 figures to pay your mortgage, and lifestyle, then you'll actually have to rope when the time comes. I was senior manager, but was driving the chittest car in the entire company. My car costs half of what graduate 4 ranks below me are driving. Had a massive rusty dent on the side, was a tiny 1.3l micro manual car. Partners would ban me for driving to client's places, and I got asked every single meeting to buy a nicer car, but I held strong, because its not something I felt was important. My most regrettable purchase was a fancy watch in the mid 4 figures, which was dumb as fuk, but I was depressed as fuk then and din't know what I was doing.
