Tax breaks are not a valid reason because the financial risk far outweighs any measly tax breaks you get.

The only reason is if you want to have kids in a traditional nuclear family household. Theoretically you could do this without marriage, but it's unlikely you'll find a woman who understands that

We've been married for 34 years. (38 years since started seeing each other)

We both committed and we both never are quitters.

Our daughter was born and the three of us had great moments together.

Now our girl started her own life. My wife and I are still good companions.


We don't need any point to prove in our marriage

but the knowledge that we are a good family sharing a great life together.

1) A public Declaration of being a couple.

2) It gives social and financial pressure to stay together and work through problems or boring periods (I'm honestly not saying that in a cynical way, that can be a good thing. Divorce is a much more serious, time consuming, and more expensive thing than just breaking up with a girlfriend).

Still blows my mind how some people throw these "story book weddings", easily dropping $20-30k for one day. Some people looked at us sideways, but my wife and I agreed on getting married at city hall. $100 for the same thing and had a backyard ceremony on our own terms. We used the money for our first home. But as others have said, I'd say its mostly for the idea of creating a family and having children.

In my opinion, the point of marriage is to fully commit to your partner in order to raise a family together. There is no other point to marriage. There is literally zero reason to commit yourself to one piece of ass for life outside of this.

I always shake my head and laugh at guys who get married but say "no kids for me, fukk that". Why in the living hell would you limit yourself to one woman for life if you are not going to head a family?
