I believe there is a distinction between physiology and temperament and character traits, even though they do usually have a symbiotic relationship.

I believe it's healthy to have models for people to people follow for long term happiness, because discernment is largely learned.

We all have conflicting desires. Some desires are destructive and some constructive. Some desires are conditioned into us and some desires we are born with, and so I believe we need help to discern what to prioritize - which is what a good parent and good culture can do for us.

For example; women in the modern age are encouraged to be promiscuous and devote their lives to their career, which is highly damaging to a naturally feminine woman, but without a model to help them with discernment to understand and nurture their own femininity and feminine desires, they can be convinced to lead that path. They may end up like the Sex and City creator who confessed at 60 that she was lonely and unhappy, due to living the life she glamorized in the TV series - if she focused on a husband and kids she would likely not feel the way she did.


There are some traits which - regardless of culture - are stubbornly found between men and women.

Regardless of if people reject them or not, I believe it's good to have models of masculinity and femininity. At least they have a model from which to draw guidance from and use for 'trial and error'. IMO self-determination is damaging when it's interpreted as "leave everyone to follow their own whims, without providing any models, structure or constructive criticism". (I've seen what happens if you do that in martial arts teaching... The majority of students go nowhere or stagnate quickly in terms of skill.)

Completely agree. Imagine needing to create an entire Instagram aesthetic for what normal people call living. Cottagecore needs to die.

What I would say is that society highly values, and has always valued, traits that are traditionally associated with masculinity.

In order to make sense of the whole thing it’s best to just shed the gender association.

For example, if you asked miscers “is ambitiousness under attacked?”. Miscers would universally agree with “**** no, you crazy?”. Ambitiousness is traditionally associated with masculinity.

If you asked miscers “is compassion sorely lacking in society?”, there would likely be universal agreement once again along the lines of “definitely. no one gives a fuk about each other anymore”. Compassion is traditionally associated with femininity.

So, if you separate out the traits from their traditional gender association, you’d get better answers.

“Masculinity” is too loose a concept in that everyone has their own unique take on it.

This is likely why you did not title your thread “Men aren’t being attacked... change my mind”, because that would imply something totally differently.

I'll quickly answers before I jump off for a bit:

Ambitiousness - Heavily, heavily praised in western society. Entrepreneurs and CEOs have become idols. Every person and their mother is trying to start a company. People devote their lives to their careers.

Muscle - If I had to guess. Gyms and supplement companies are probably posting the higher profits in the 21st century than the late 20th century. Everyone and their mother who is a popular youtuber starts lifting. Hollywood leading males tend to lift, even taking gear.

Assertiveness - That's a tricky one. Can't give an example of it being praised strongly by the MSM.

Sexual Dominance - Porn, and pornstars being mainstream interviewed on podcasts, etc, most pornstars show the main being sexually dominant. 50 shades of Gray being one of the biggest selling books of all time, and one of the most successful R rated movies. The MSM loved it.
