Husband and I used FAM, fertility’s awareness method. In conjunction with tracking cycles, cervical fluid, I also used ovulation test strips (box of 50 or 100 off Amazon) to see when I was actually ovulating so we could avoid/try. When avoiding I also used spermicide gel incase he had weak pullout game.

We were together for 2.5 years before conception, after the first couple months only used rubbers on occasion, pull'n'pray the rest of the time. (Did not pull out when preggors happened so I still trust my pullout game for the most part.)

Look up ovulatory shift as well.

It's obviously most fun to cum inside when she is ovulating, horny, wet as hell but that doesnt end well lmao
She doesn't have regular periods though, never has, so is tracking ovulation pretty much a no-go for us? If so and we don't go IUD I'll just continue to roll the dice on pullouts cuz I can't go back to rubbers, lol.

Based on your usage of the test strips, how accurate do you think someone would be at predicting ovulation based solely on the physical signs?

We used birth control and the standard protocol was to stop taking the pill for a month and use condoms before trying to conceive in order to get the hormones out of her system. Through six pregnancies probably half were in the first month of trying. Longest was three months. Sex every day for the first, mostly every other day for the last.

Coming off the pill can boost chances of conception in first few months

To do it properly is actually quite a pain. You need to track daily your body basal temperature, cervical fluid and cervical positioning

Wouldn’t you just have the snip?

That really depends on the dedication the woman puts into using that method. Even when temping, things can cause your temp to spike. Medications can cause change in cervical fluids, tons of factors. That’s why we used test strips in conjuring with spermicide when trying to avoid.

Didn't know that about birth control. My wife went with an IUD after the last pregnancy. I expect that will get us pretty close to not worrying about contraception anymore. Mostly just curious because some act like it's pretty straightforward.

Thanks. Sounds complicated, lol.

NFP. Not pulling out, although that can be a part of it. NFP done the right way, including documenting temperature, cervical checks - it works. Hormonal BC is a nightmare and my IUD came out twice and I never would have known had I not looked. That seemed way too easy for a happy little accident to happen although supposedly that's rare.

That's spooky. For me it would just be one more in the mix, but for someone with no kids, yikes.

Spoiler!
In seriousness, I do think it would be worse for someone with no kids, but it would be a serious adjustment for us, too.

It would have all worked out but unexpected to say the least. The scariest part is I wouldn't have known until nothing fit

We used condoms throughout dating and marriage until we decided to start a family.

It's not as fun I know (and now that she's tube tied I'm never using one again) but BC is so much worse for her health. If you're dead set against it I'd say pullout is your next best option.
