Plus I read somewhere it's hard to get pregnant when your wife's breast feeding regularly so that only makes things easier.
This sounds like some Anchorman math. 60% of the time, it works EVERY TIME...

We have talked about it over the last couple hours since I made this thread, she has heard some horror stories from friends with IUD's, so she is pretty gunshy there, and I'm pretty firmly in the "no hormonal bullchit" camp, so at this point we are still considering the copper IUD, but most likely leaning towards going back to the ol pull'n'pray method. It worked out pretty well for me for 33 years, and we were definitely way lax on that when Jr got made, but again, we weren't actively against getting pregnant at that point.

Calm down Killah, it was her idea to look into BC in the first place, lol. I hadn't given it a thought beyond going back to P'n'P until she brought it up, so I'm just covering my bases and making sure we pick the best option possible.

My wife and I have one kid, we want a second but not yet so we're just using condoms. I have the ultra thin ones and don't mind them. When I'm pumping I can finish in like 30 seconds if I want (and can go pretty much forever if I/my wife wants me to). I'm thinking I'll get snipped after the second kid.

I couldn’t handle hormonal BC and did try the IUD but had it removed after less than a year because it caused miserable periods. He could feel the strings but that wasn’t a showstopper. We ultimately went with the rhythm method (NFP) & condoms/pull-out when I was ovulating, which for me meant 10 protected days a month. Once we were absolutely sure we were done making babies he got a vasectomy.

The rhythm method can be effective if your wife’s monthly cycle is regular and she is very careful about maintaining her calendar. There are great apps that make tracking easy. We waited years to have our first and never had a surprise baby. Breastfeeding does create hormonal swings which can make ovulation erratic so if she is nursing you should use some form of BC. Some will tell you that if she is exclusively breastfeeding and hasn’t resumed her cycle you’re gtg but if you’re not a gambling man I wouldn’t take the chance.

This also happened to my fiancé. Just got unlucky. Pull out until I get a vasectomy or something.

Yeah, like I said my wife had a really bad initial experience. I was kind of surprised she wanted to try again with the IUD, but the second time has been fine. Really no options without some negatives, just have to evaluate your options and decide which drawbacks you hate the least.

Bold is exactly it man, 100%. End game I am fully down with getting snipped, but don't want to do so now and take the chance of the reversal failing if we decide to go for #2.

Wife has been on BC the whole 10+ years we been together. I’m gonna get snipped soon but now I’m like wtf what if we hate each other when she comes off lmao. Y’all are making it sound like it’s drastic difference lol. She did mention that she’s on a mild dose by this point. Apparently they start you off high and reduce if everything is good. Which like I said is over a decade ago at this point.

Probably fine. Based on the published side effects, drastic changes are uncommon. I didn't notice a difference in my wife and I don't think she did either.
