Now I wonder why people aren't taking them... and it has nothing to do with benefits as this thread points out.

Maybe pay more?....
So the Axios article linked to a Reuters article, where you got the quote but you left out the next sentence which provided context, and the next paragraph which refutes the claim

Just lmao.

[img]https://c.tenor.com/i8SJAiowMJYAAAAC/give-up-quit.gif[img]
Omg... you better let Reuters know so they can update their article title!!

Btw.. who knew that ignoring the pandemic would lead to this?

No offense, but you can't say that ending the benefits worked when it didn't.. they were put in place because of the pandemic and the pandemic wrecked those states. They go hand in hand and the end result is ending the benefits didn't help.

Yes I saw that when I read the article and the first hundred times you and gachase quoted it. You're still missing the point. These states ended the benefits in the middle of the pandemic claiming it would end the "help wanted" signs.. it didn't. That's the point. Not that reducing unemployment payments would get people to work... everyone knows that.

Nope

Not for the cumulative months the event happen.

In the chart the author that posted this article on Reuters showed misleads as well.

It definitely wasn’t as significant as people were hoping it would be.

But it was a cumulative 4.4% better in the gop states.

Monthly Eitc payment starting the same month hindered what some of the expectations were.

This is the dumbest argument I've ever heard. Those jobs are still vacant, regardless. Wtf is the article even trying to conclude? That we should pay people because they're going to refuse to work anyways? That's their fukking problem.

Straight up dumbest chit ever.

I don't think they're even arguing that, its even dumber. That's why I am appalled. Their point is doublespeaking back around to "we should pay people since they're going to refuse to work anyways". Its backwards logic, intentionally confusing cause and effect to usher in communism.

It’s referencing the article that references a Goldman Sachs study.

Now when you read the actual study you’ll see that yes there was a little more in the gop states.

Just not near as much as people would think and it tapered in August.

It also talked about the economic impact of the reduced artificial consumer demand given out in the states.

What oh by the way hurt inflation nationwide resulting from the states that kept it.

This study , which was overall negative towards the idea of ending unemploymebt early, reached similar conclusions.

https://files.michaelstepner.com/pan...tion-paper.pdf

On a sidenote unrelated note - our concessions to privacy are scary

Using anonymous bank transaction data and a difference-in- differences research design, we measure the effect of withdrawing pandemic UI on the financial and employment trajectories of unemployed workers in states that withdrew benefits, compared to workers with the same unemployment duration in states that retained these benefits.
Cliffs:

-States that ended federal benefits early saw larger job gains among the unemployed: Their employment jumped 4.4 percentage points relative to jobless individuals in states that kept benefits flowing

-everything else about the move ended up not working out so well from a supply side economics view

Pay more? The McDonald’s down the street has had a help wanted sign up for over a month now offering $18/hr for the weekend shifts.
If fact most of the business you drive by are offering great wages for entry level positions.

Let them writhe,

LEt them cry about how they can't afford a the new iphone,

Let them bitch and moan how they're going to be homeless even though most of the cucks live with their parents rent free.

Stop rewardin the losers and the leeches of society. They want money without hard work? Sign up as lab rats for experimental drugs and other stupid bullchit. I didn it when I was a prospectless bum with nothing else going on in my life.

Sick of these losers who want chit for nothing and the *******s who support them.

Better yet, when it comes to this chit let's make a new requirement. If you can't bench or squat or deadlift just the bar alone for a simple rep, penis or pussy regardless, you don't quality. Simple.

The important thing is that some NEET didn't get a check. Tired of people getting handouts while the rest of us work and some libtard has some verbal gymnastics on why we should just be okay if some of the population wants to just chill 24/7. Fukn adult infants.

Employers really need to pay livable wages, it's absurd. In LA I've seen tent cities increase their populations drastically. Many of them work but can't afford rent so a tent in the park is a better option.

I personally know a guy who lived in a tent in California for over a year because his job didn't pay enough.

Yep. On top of that all these people that will get evicted will start crying about how they have no money and will be homeless. Perhaps someone needs to ask them what they have been doing with all of their money over the last year and a half if they haven't been paying rent.

Roughly the same quality of life. Live in the same area of town. One requires you to cuck on everything you hold sacred while committing 40% of your entire time on earth to some CEO who is doing lines off hookers asses on his yacht.

It’s over for CEOcells and GOVcells. I will not earn a taxable wage likely ever again after these last two years And there are many like me.
This

If you can live even somewhat comfortably doing nothing or the bare minimum, why would you bother doing more

This is a factor but don't think its the while story. There's also the monthly child credits that didn't exist before.

I also think people are just spending less because they prefer to not work if they don't have to

Once their name is finally up for the eviction I wonder how quick they will start applying for jobs

Or maybe they won't, maybe they'll just go live with family or something. The mind of a poor person is something I will never understand

Also this. If you can't support yourself even in California then you're a total ****ing moron and probably would be better off not part of society anyway
