As someone who is a daily smoker the two things that are starting to scare me are the financial costs long term and the fact that I am still inhaling smoke over the long term. I have been switching to edibles instead but the habit of sitting down after a nice dinner, kick my feet up and burn one is a strong one to kick. I feel that edibles are a much longer experience and harder to throttle, where as with smoking I can put it out/cut it whenever I reach my desired level of highness. Either way I have taken many T breaks , after the first 3-4 days (and vivid dreams) its clear sailing from my experience. Like others have said in here, its not a magical switch that will make everything better if you stop smoking. If your life is chit because of smoking, quitting will make it better (Ie paranoid, broke, ect).

You can drink 3 beers, feel a little tipsy, drink 3 more, its been 1-2 hours by the time you're done, and you're still perhaps fairly functional, though your inhibitions are probably messed up and you might dun goof or say/do things you wouldn't normally. Weed though is another animal, you have no idea how much is too much unless you've been using it on the regular to build a baseline assessment, srs. Once you've established what amount is enough to feel something without being essentially disabled, then it comes down to, what does it do for you and to you. The former is personal and circumstantial. The latter, when compared to alcohol, sounds way more appealing. Brb no Calories ingested. Brb no bad effects on your organs. Brb doesn't cause you to make poor decisions. Etc.That's a lie. I've smoked daily for like a year and I've known other people who do it as well. Just because it gets normal for you after a while doesn't mean that you're actually functioning the same as when you're sober. Most people I know who are heavy smokers become lethargic and lazy. It's a lot harder to get chit done when you're constantly high. Your memory is also worse.
Also I do know some "idiots freaking out", not that they went to the hospital. And I believe it's some kind of genetic thing where they're more sensitive to psychoses and stuff like that. The wrong kind/amount of weed can cause that. I don't think it's fair to call them idiots because of it.
Some people can function well on alcohol as well, although physically it's probably more taxing than smoking.I could probably get work done when I've downed a sixpack, but after half a joint don't count on me to get anything useful done at all.Again, the key is making it work for you in a certain way. If you like to get high after work and zone out, then you perform again at work the next day. I don't see the problem with people who do that. Although I still believe it's better to take breaks every now and then.

Mostly because I know a lot of athletes and its extremely popular due to it not having the same negative physical effects of pretty much every other substance that lets you relax.
I have spent some time with my brother in Washington though and seen how it works when its legal and its pretty interesting. I saw that aspect drawn out even more. Successful people who used it it was kind of like coffee, ,gave them a boost either mood wise, productivity wise, or socially because of the dopamine release or reduction is stress. But then you have the obviously weird looking stoner kids who are like 18 year olds in college having beer and liquor for their first time with it readily accessible.
But this whole notion that weed makes a productive person unproductive is pretty funny because its very off base. It makes an unproductive person extremely more unproductive but it does not make a productive, level headed functioning person dysfunctional.
You know what does though? alcohol and prescription drugs. I can tell you I would much rather people be getting high than drunk, alcohol is a fuking nuisance on society compatibly. People arent raping, fighting, stealing, destroying property, killing people in accidents(fractionally as much), like people who are intoxicated are.
Surprised its still so fringe really with it being legal in so many states now and decriminalized in most of the country kind of in limbo awaiting legalization.
From a health perspective, both mental and physical, if there was a vice to have this would be probably the healthiest. Smoking cigarettes or using tobacco, prescription pills, food, porn, sex, gambling, alcohol just off the top of my head are all unquestionably more unhealthy.

Although it’s probably not healthy, I have spent the past 3-4 years on and off. The only thing I notice if I build up too high a tolerance is complete lack of appetite and some short term memory loss.

Smoked blunt after blunt every single day for several years. Wouldnt watch a movie or eat or go to sleep without puffing first. Then one day I thought “i cant imagine ever quitting this” and that was the time to quit. Quit cold turkey jan 2007. Not a drag since. Miss it sometimes but not that much. Glad its not something I do srs
