All of you are wrong.

Rammstein was the best band of that era, and they continue to be the best band in the world.

It's a shame they are so big now they only do stadium shows - I luckily saw them on their LIFAD tour (last time they were in the US) in Oakland, CA and hollllllly chit what an experience. There is simply no better live band.

I should mention I was introduced to Rammstein from the Family Values Tour in '98 (Korn and Limp Bizkit) and Rammstein opened.

Both NIN and Rage Against The Machine were good. NIN had The Downward Spiral and Rage had their debut album along with Evil Empire in the 90's.

If you were to pick one band from the 90's era, for all around best of the best, who would it be?

In the 90's my favorite bands were Janes Addiction and the Smashing Pumpkins (Chicago hometown), I liked Primus a lot too. Back then it was about sounding different, everyone was so sick of the 80's hair bands, and tons of new sounds came out in the 90's. That said the band I saw the most back then was the Grateful Dead because my friends would drive hours and hours to see them and I was always up for a road trip.

Looking back and in trms of how their music aged, probably AIC and NIN and my 2 favorite bands.

I saw AIC in 92 at Lolla, they were the #2 band on that tour behind Primus. They came out and had a typical light show like the 80's hair bands, Primus came out on stage to green smoke. Incidentally RATM and Tool were on that tour too. Turns out the headliner's music aged worse than any of those bands.

Korn are the hardest band I keep on my Spotify. And I got hard stuff by suffocation, dying fetus, behemoth, morbid angel, Nile and cannibal corpses on my list. Nothing holds a candle to korn as far as sheer heavy brutality jmo.

Strong reply. The 90's was revolutionary for music. Vast difference compared to the 80's.

So many bands that made great music together in the 90's it's almost impossible to pick and choose favorites.

The Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness is a 10/10. It does have a distinctive sound. The band makes Tonight Tonight sounds like a light rock symphony.

And I agree with Alice in Chains. Even missing original members, the band continues. I think DuVall does alright on vocals and pays tribute to the past. Jerry Cantrell is a goat guitarist.

Still nobody has yet posted a harder song than Here to Stay

Hint: That album was super engineered and cost like 10 million dollars to make.

Its one of the most expensive albums of all time and one of the hardest intros in heavy metal history.

The audio engineers were on the next level of power already.

I still own all of their CD's, and their most recent album BANGS.




They stuck with their style and you have respect a band that sticks to their roots

Add to that they’re not just gory death metal lyrics sang with growling Cookie Monster vocals. His vocals and korn’s music just the sound is real. What he’s singing about is raw and uncut. I mean I love songs about fantasy, war, and death even some with the bear roar monster vocals.

Chris Barnes best work. Didn’t even agree with his political views in it but it was better than praising the devil and killing Christians or whatever. It was something hesangabout that was real to him.
