Nice car OP . I’d install a 4 speed automatic though . Going from a 2.48 first to a 3.06 is a big jump, and you’ll be ripping the tires off with ease , plus you’ll have an OD . Best of both worlds , and I was going to install one in my TransAm if I kept it .
But I don’t know what your rear diff gears are . A 3.42 would be a decent ratio with the 4L80E

I covered them with a rubber grommet. Im not 100% sure why they're there in the first place (some sort of drainage if necessary), but the stock pans had them too.

There are 2 others (72 Skylarks) for sale in the near area, both NOT running with the 350, waaaaay worse rust and horrible interiors and they're both around $6k

I was actually looking at 4 speeds last night and what options I have.

I'm not sure what gear is in the rear either, but I can do 45 in 1st and only be at like 3800 rpms. From what I've read its probably a 2.48 or like a 2.56 or something low like that. A LSD and a higher gear are definitely in its future. It's got gobs of torque but that long gear isnt helping in the acceleration department.

Accidentally bought these yesterday. Had to get something really quickly on Amazon and forgot that I already had these in my cart......well they should be here next week. lulz

The cars got Hooker Long Tube Headers to 2.5" true duals to (what I think) are Flowmaster 40's (maybe 44's) right now........the mufflers I just bought are single chamber, equivalent to Flowmaster 10's......she's about to get a little louder.

HNNNGGGG. I'm considering an Xpipe and cutouts. Going to see what the new mufflers sound like and go from there. Headers, single chambers and dumps at the axle.

The cars got (from the sound of it) a mild cam and once warmed up has a decent lope but vacuum drops so maybe it doesn't have a cam and I just have the idle adjusted too low. lol

Here's what backing out of the driveway looks like, since I've been lazy with cleaning up the never ending pine-straw droppagae.

Got board and Plastidipped the hood and bumpers and swapped out the steering wheel finally.

Haven't installed the new mufflers yet.

Next on the list...
-Mufflers (removing the flowmaster 44's currently on it putting on Flowmaster 10's)
-Mini Spool (Currently a 1 wheel peeler)
-BMR 1" Drop Full Suspension upgrade (Springs/shocks/sway bars/bushings)
-4 Point Roll Cage, Remove Back Seat
-Harnesses
-Rims/Tires

Bit of rust on the sill? I like the clearcoat ratrod stuff, but the sides arent far gone enough..

It's called a "Rust-oration" lol. I'm not going for pretty/factory new look.....Other than the roof (cause it's effed paint wise as you can see from the pics) I'm not doing any other body/paint work. The frame is rust free and honestly for a 50 year old car, (other than the trunk pan.... this thing is structurally MINT!

Once the suspension/rims/tires are done, this thing is going to be a thrasher/strip/drift mobile that I don't want to feel badly about driving the fuk out of and I'm not real worried about making it look nice.

And yea...no B Pillar.....hence the Roll Cage in the near future. lol....I'm starting to think the door panels are going to come out and Im even thinking of the taking the new carpet back out and going full racecar mode. It's not a numbers matching car and it's one of the "less desirable" A-Body lines and I'm sure I could sell it today and make money so.....that's where Im at currently.

TBH it's more of an annoyance to try to record when I really just want to be doing the work. We'll see how it goes.

lol. I had access to a welder, but didnt want to get that serious with it.

I just ended up using JB Weld around the edges and riveted em in.....got under it and squeezes some seam sealer in the joint and called it good. They aint going anywhere.

Made the hour drive yesterday to pick up some goodies. Now I just have to find the time to install them.

I basically had a day to myself while the wife was running errands and taking care of some stuff with her parents.

I was originally wanting to get a full suspension kit but the 2 that I had in mind were on backorder till May, so the very knowledgeable and patient people at Summit helped me piece together a kit based off of what they had in stock. It was a great day.....I legit had butterflies when I pulled into the parking lot.

-BMR 1" Lowering Springs, front & Rear
-KYB adjustable shocks, front & Rear
-2.5" X-Pipe kit, to go with the Single Chamber mufflers I bought a while back.
-1" Rear Sway Bar kit
-1-5/16" Front Sway Bar Kit (ships out Monday)
-Polyurethane bushings
-Mini Spool kit

When I got to the Cashier (after putting the order together) She says "oh wow, you've got a big order.....lets see if we can help you out" and proceeded to give me 10% off and a $50 coupon....and the Guy that helped me build the order was an old racer who was telling me stories about the cars he'd raced over the years.

The whole experience was just as awesome as I could have asked for.

I've always thought if I had just excessive cash and time to spare, it would be really neat to shove a Honda B18 into a Mustang. Longitudinally mount the engine, get the oil pan sorted out, trans adapter, etc... It would be insanely impractical, but it'd be really neat for like a 1st -> 3rd gen Mustang to pop the hood and there's a Honda 4 banger looking back at you lol. Obviously throw a turbo on it so it still moves quick.

Yep...it was way too big. lol. I replaced it a few weeks ago....made a huge difference, especially getting in and out the car seeing as how there is no tilt wheel. Once I get seats and a cage in there Ill probably add a quick release hub.

WTF you buy that for $6k??? Every old classic car I've looked at was $35k in ok condition. I've looked at Chevelles, Cudas, Chargers, GTOs. They're all expensive as ****

How would you suggest I go about buying a classic?
