Rate my new car purchase.....project thread.
Picked it up last week. It's got a running and driving 455 in it (pretty stock), but it will be the home for a Big Block Chevy 402 and TH400 that I'm building right now.
Car needs about $1500 (not including body work which I'm not concerned about) to get it where I want it before I put the motor in....mainly interior & suspension.
Motor & Trans will be about $3500. New pistons, bigger valves in heads, up compression, big cam.....400hp+ is the goal.
Goal is for a cruiser/street "ratty muscle" car that can run 11's in the 1/4 and piss off the neighbors.
EDIT: UPDATE ON POST 104 -AS OF 9.16.22 CAR IS SOLD.

Wise investment (srs)
You can run 11s on slicks with 90/10 suspension. I have no idea about converting hardware that old because I am not a mechanic, but 90/10 with a big block and a lot of torque has been around forever

2nd owner went to Highschool with a good buddy of mine
Handed him $6k and drove it home.
I plan to sell the 455 and the "fresh built" Th350 trans for at least $2k when I pull it.

Looks like a worthy project. Keep us updated.
Are you gonna paint it black and have a flame decal running down the side?

I've driven it 2x, just to get an idea/feel of what it needs that I cant see.......and the amount of looks that it gets is crazy. That's not why I'm doing it, but it's kind of cool to see people mirin old school muscle.
This has been a dream of mine for 20+ years.

Guy had a clean shop with a 78 Camaro drag build, a 63 Chevy stepside truck, a late 70's El Camino, a 02 2500 HD, 2 lifts, a couple motors...a Dune Buggy that he hadnt even gone and gotten yet, 2 kids and a wife.... Was just looking to get rid of it b/c he didn't have time for it.

First of the orders arrived today, wasn't expecting it till Tuesday.....going to be a fun weekend!
The Plan....Seats out, carpet out, headliner out, vacuum/clean, run new stereo wires....probably run into a few other things.....hopefully its all back together Sunday.....Hopefully!
I fully expect to find a hole in the floor pan. lol. Might record it all and try my hand at editing, throw it on YouTube...if for nothing else, just as documentation.

Finally had some time to dig in to the car. Got lots of parts just waiting for me to have the time to install them.
My day job is getting in the way of my projects. lulz

Had an issue starting....sounded horrible, got under there and realized the previous owner clearly had the wrong one on there. lol
