Yeah, I've heard the canned pumpkin is a mix, too. The ones my mom made were actually really similar. There was a little difference tasting them back-to-back, but not much.

Keep the pics coming all, looks delish!
Good info, I'll pass it on. That monster butternut in the picture would probably make some good pie.

My father-in-law and I do like Turkey on Thanksgiving so he is doing a turkey with cornbread stuffing and giblet gravy.

I just made two kinds of homemade cranberry sauce, one regular the other with black pepper and pickled jalapenos.

I hope everyone enjoys their turkey day spent with family.

Some delicious looking food itt.
I love the idea of a roast. I almost did the same thing.

Do you think that would taste good without mushrooms?

Maple Brussels with bacon
Cranberry sauce with jalapeños

Those sound like magnificent side dishes that I have to try.

I made 2 chocolate pudding pies because that's what they wanted. Turkey all seasoned and ready to cook tomorrow.

Enjoy your night everyone and Happy Thanksgiving!

Apparently, the trick is to pull the breast piece off the bird first, then carve it.

Go to timestamp @26:30 to see the process in this video.

Do it one of these holidays. Srs.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

Hope everyone had a great holiday! Now that all the family has left, and things are a little quieter...

The turkey was great smoked with a few chunks of apple:

And my wife did end up using the burgess buttercup for the "pumpkin" pie.

Tasted great to me. I couldn't tell a difference, not that I'm that discerning.

NZ family decided to try US Thanksgiving foods and decided they will to do this annually, and will introduce their friends to the holiday.
