I feel like this would have been reviewed a lot better if it were a Sony exclusive.
Looks mediocre as all buggery.

Games like this are terrible for streamers. Streamers wanna be the main attraction, how can they possibly keep it entertaining for 4 hours of tutorial? That 4 hours of tutorial will shoot up to 10 hours because they're too busy jerking themselves off and fukking with their viewers.
Dying Light 1 was slow as hell too, I stopped playing after I realized you need to grind 20 hours to kill a zombie without breaking 5 weapons over its head first. So god damn unrealistic, the start to that game, how weak they make your character. Was pathetic. I bet it gets real good, and I bet Dying Light 2 gets really good too, but those slow ramp ups are hard to make it through.

Feels like they tried to correct that a bit this time through tho - The night time feels very different in time around as well
I remember being terrified of it being night and it was pitch black out lol; this game feels like it's trying to normalize being outside at night
Although it could change im still technically in the "tutorial" phase I think.

PLayed it for like an hour last night. feels good, controls are good. combat seems questionable. seems very 1 dimensional at first. I can't get why they took out the guns in the game. Dang.

so i started DL1 last year for the first time but stopped since I assumed 2 would be an all around improvementand figured i would just wait. should i just go back and play 1 since everyone seems to be saying 2 is worse or equal at best?

I liked the first one and would play that before jumping into the second even though they're not tied together.

Caved in and played the intro part, good so far. Combat changes are questionable, but I'll reserve my opinion til I've actually gotten some levels and weapons on my character. It's obviously not that fun at level 2 with a rusty pipe.
Graphics are pretty nice with Ray tracing and dlss. I'm getting like 75ish fps with dlss on quality and all the graphics maxed, 3080ti / 1440p.
Sprinting and parkour feel a little floaty, but the climbing and mantling feel better. Also fire the guy who made it so you fall if you run out of stamina climbing.

Played a pretty good chunk of it but tbh it’s no where near the hype level so far. It’s not terrible, but considering they took so long for this 2nd game they really didn’t improve on much (at least to the point I’m at in game).
The graphics are shiit imo and I’m on a 4k tv with an xbox series X. I’ve been going back through Witcher 3 on death march lately and the voice acting and NPC characters from witcher back in 2015 blow this out of the water. It’d be silly to compare the games, I’m talking strictly voice and NPC build.
One thing that really annoys me about these games is that there’s all these cool power up perks and combat moves that you really can’t get until you’re 80%+ done with the game. It’d be OP to do from the start so I’m not sure what the balance would be, but it’s always felt like a waste for me.
I can’t believe they took this long to put this out, it’s basically the first one with a little better story (nowhere near an upscale they claimed it’d be in that aspect).
Overall some will love it but I prefer more substance and I give it a 6/10. Which is disappointing considering the potential they had to build on from the first. They also took so long the completely lost all the momentum they gained from the first, so they REALLY dropped the ball.
CLIFFS
6/10
Edit: want to say I’m not done with it and some of my opinion is liable to change. Graphics, voice acting and NPC opinions won’t be changing that I could see.

The first one was a zombie game. This is a survival game with zombies sprinkled in that are just sort of there. Rarely are they a hinderance or even fun to kill.
I’ve finally reached a point where I’m stuck though. Missions 16/22 and I can’t find a way past volatiles. Which outside of the first scene of the game this is their first appearance. They’re significantly lamer than the original too

Night time is basically when you’re encouraged to do most of your chit. Used to be risky and scary as hell to go out after dark. Now it’s no different than day time.

First one you couldn’t even pick a lock on the street without a zombie bumping into you and knocking you on your ass. Now I’m pretty sure you could leave your game unpaused, go make a sandwich, do the dishes and come back and you wouldn’t be touched

Tbh I played dying light 1 on the hardest setting and the way those running zombies were was super annoying. They were just chasing you constantly and made the game obnoxious at high difficulty. You'd have to spend so much time fighting off virals just to do simple ****. And you couldnt use any guns or bombs or anything noisy cause then it's just a constant stream of virals fukkin you up.
