Take the sf90.... Sure its cool, but it is indecisive for what it wants to be....

But a mclaren f1, 993 porsche, f40, etc all have a strong appeal because they simply are what they are. They slot into a defined generation.

Tesla has seemingly created the next genre, having driven some top model-s cars, I cant see why youd get anything else right now.

If money was no object, and you handed me keys for a tesla plaid or an sf90.... Id take the plaid.

If you had the keys for a 993 turbo or a tesla plaid, THEN I'd have a hard decision to make.

Funny you say that. I have been feeling that I want to find 'the' car. A car I actually want to keep. In a few years, everything will be hybrid and everything will change. At first I thought of getting a Performante. That is a car I could see owning for a long time. But over this past year, I have come to love my Lotus, which is getting major upgrades right now. Talk about analog. Does not even have power steering. But I did put an AIM dash in it for racing purposes and data logging.

My huracan is for sale right now. Was seriously considering building a Ultima RS as another forum member here did. Would be an awesome project with my son. But I am also thinking of just getting a 720s. My son is crazy about them, and maybe just own it for a year and then do the Ultima. He is still only 14 so we have time still to build it together.

Not sure what direction. My true dream would be a LP400 Countach, but I know that is better left as a dream. I like to drive my cars and that is not the right car for that. We put 3000 miles on the Huracan in 8 months. All 'fun' driving. So the challenge for me is to find the car I want. Or just keep changing them.

We have 4 guys in the group that bought plaids also. They are cool, but no soul. I dont see myself wanting to go that direction. Maybe if a new roadster came out. Buddy has an SF90 coming. His was the gray SVJ. Will be cool to check it out. Ferrari makes some beautiful cars and I think their integration of the hybrid is going to be nice. I am still waiting to see what lamborghini does to replace the Huracan. I am thinking it will get the TTV8 out of the Urus w/ hybrid power. I hope not. The NA V10 is beautiful, but it is a dying breed.

You can insult me however you like. But as a parent, I might suggest that you might not understand what it is like and perhaps you should not make assumptions. I would never put my son in a situation I did not feel he was ready for. Especially one that would cause him significant harm. Given that I have raised him and exposed him to things, I fully understand what his capabilities are. I am also a Certified Flight Instructor in aircraft, so I might know a little bit about risk assement and understanding a students capabilities.

He has been on motorized things since he could walk. I had him on dirt bikes at an early age and he learned to respect the machine. Here is a pic of him at 11 on a 125 Yamaha. Obviously he has shown that he understands how to operate things.

I also have had him on karts and he demonstrated to me and others that he has a great instinctive ability to drive.


So mr safety monitor. We are on a controlled race track, with no barriers to hit. Lots of run-off space and worst case if you send a car way into the grass, there are tire walls to absorb impact. There are crews on hand with fire extinguishers and medics.

It was a risk for sure, but a measured one. I felt the worst case scenario is I would trash the car. But to me the memories we made that day were priceless. Our track car has full harnesses and roll bar, but wont hit 170 on the straights. I made the decision to move to a more practical car, one that requires more finesse and is a momentum car. When done with the mods, it will probably beat the lap times of the H, but it will do so by out cornering it, not top speed.

I hope one day you can understand the enjoyment of sharing experiences with your kids. It is pretty awesome and no regrets. Risk, yes, but calculated.

Cars and motorcycles give you a big adrenaline rush. Long day at work? It's very stress reliving to get a quick burst of speed with the wind blowing through your hair. I ALWAYS feel good when I'm driving on the open road. Nothing comes close unless you're into extreme sports like skydiving

Same dude in real life as on the forum. But there are the types, the keyboard warriors who get some fulfillment out of being a dik online. II have learned to look for the good in things, and regardless of what some may think, this place is pretty cool in a lot of ways!

To answer your question, no. I did not have this as a younger guy. I wish I had! I have one good life long friend of 20+ years. Guess you could call him my 'best' friend. We met many years ago on a job he was doing with his company and me with mine. Our lives have followed such a similar path. Along the way we have always looked out for each other. He is the only person in my life that I have ever been able to mix business and friendship and have it work out ok.

I have turned to him many times over the years for advice and the support of his friendship and he as well to me. It is important to have people in your life that support you. No person does it alone. In fact, it is the opposite. It is other people that will determine your success or failure. I have been lucky enough to only keep people in my life that are positive and supportive. I think that is important. I dont associate with negative people. I dont have time for that.

But getting to know many of these guys, I am truly humbled by the quality of character. To be honest, it has left me inspired in a lot of ways.

My goals are a little different. I am not chasing MOAR. I gave that up a long time ago. I could have a lot more, but I dont want the sacrifices that comes with. What I want is freedom. Freedom to spend the time of my life with my family the way I want. Having the most 'stuff' is not the goal. I wont sacrifice more of one thing for less of another. I just want enough to have a little fun and do it on my terms.

This group of friends is filled with many different backgrounds. And I am talking with several about a few business ventures. Not sure if it will lead to anything, but it has me excited about a few things like I have not been in years. Life is amazing the opportunities that present themselves are often hidden.

For me this all began at a car meet about 2 years ago, with a guy who I didnt know at the time. Now I have a circle of friends. Real friends who I can call on as friends do. I also help them where I can. Life is good and I have not forgotten that it is others who will make your life better. Be the person others want in their lives and you will be paid back 1000 times!

This is what is cool. You and I think a lot alike about cars. That is what I love about them. It is crazy what a common bond can be like and how these experiences can draw us together. That is what is fun about the car world to me.

I am with you on the old air cooled Porsche, but I have never been truly moved by them. Even though I know they are awesome cars.

Like I said, I dont know what the next thing will be for us, but I am just going to wait to figure that out. That is what the fun part of this journey is!

Yes, we all drove our fun cars, but we also get together at other times without them. 70deg weather in december and a great excuse to get out for an outside dinner after Christmas. So the truth is I was not really into cars for a long time. I had become focused on flying and helicopters. I could not give a crap about cars. But my son was born, and anything with 4 wheels made him excited. As he got older, he wanted to go to monster trucks and then drag races. His excitement for it got me excited again and hence, this is all my sons faultIt is a cool thing to share with him and he helped me re-discover my passion.

Since COVID, I would say I agree I have gone way overboard. I said fuk it, life it short. I have been working for a long time. I did not feel comfortable putting more money in stocks. Real-estate was crazy high or I would have bought more investment properties. I had the cash, so I stared buying cars and crypto with it. In the past 2 years I think I have been though 6 cars. I am down to 2 fun cars now which I can justify. I am not nearly as bad as some of the other guys, and I could afford to spend more than I do, but I am comfortable with playing and having a little fun, but I dont see myself as a guy buyin 2 mil cars.
