More Car Porn (guys dinner out vid) Pretty crazy line-up

Went out for a guys dinner last night post Christmas. We had beautiful weather down here so we took advantage of some outside dining. We know the restaurant owner, so they blocked off some parking for us. What a really great night. The best part is we are truly all friends. With or without the cars. A fantastic group of guys. Some super nice stuff and one of my buddies just raised the bar with his 918 for sure. He just got it Christmas Eve morn.

Not a flex vid. Just sharing with other guys who like cars. Hard to imagine a better line up of actual cars that are driven and owned by 'normal' people. No rappers or pro ball players in the group. Just a bunch of car fanatics.

Yep....pretty much the way I would describe some of the fastest production cars made, plus one 'hyper car'. The Martini livery. Well car came like that. When you have a 2.2 mil car, I think it is OK if it stands out a little.

I have owned a few exotics, and I like my cars to have 'pop'. It is just fun. For me, a color is almost mandatory. But as you can see, some guys like the more muted colors. All personal preference. The great thing is you can like what you like.

Yep, red state, unfortunately we got a blue gov. NC. We are in a county without mask mandates though. But that restaurant is in southern part of a BLUE county of the city of charlotte. No one there pays attention to mask mandates though. Life is pretty much normal here.

No criminals. A bunch of self made people. Cool group. About 50-60% college drop outs, myself included. Some guys are high up in finance and some other big businesses, but mostly filled with self made guys.

We are all friends. Text, insta, face book. My buddy put the word out for dinner and we all did a head count. SUPER generous guy. He ended up picking up the tab for all 24 people. Most of us paid it forward. I gave what I would have spent on dinner to the young kid who was working valet and blocked off the area for us. Would not surprise me if he went home with close to a $1000 last night.

Super cool guy. Recovering from 2 very large surgeries back to back. He has ulcerative colitis. He is also probably the best driver in the group. In 2018 he tested with Williams F1. Anyone who follows F1 knows what that means. But the nicest guy you will ever meet. Very happy to see him out last night. I have not seen him since Oct before his surgeries.

He left his mark

It was just a fun night out with friends. Super nice weather, and one of our buddies got the 918. For those that are unfamiliar with the car, well, not many cars on that level. We were all wanting to get out of the houses after Christmas and have a great dinner and celebrate a great year.

We also know the restaurant owner and like to support local businesses. There is no doubt it is a little over the top, but the coolest part is we are all really friends. And most of the conversation was catching up with each other and sharing stories of our families and Christmas. The cars were not the focus of conversation. Except for maybe the 918. Not many cars like that around. And most will never even be driven on the street, but rather locked away.

Mirin OP.

Also, I am trying to figure out exactly where in Charlotte that is. I grew up there, but none of the restaurants are in focus.

Judging by the quality of streets it looks like the Ballantyne area off of 521/Johnson Rd or maybe somewhere off of Providence Rd.

NC is becoming Blue and PROGRESSIVE. All the racistcels are dying or moving elsewhere for the better. You should be HAPPY about that. Unless you want NC to be like MS, poor and last in state rankings in everything.

I absolutely love the 918 - a technological masterpiece. But that livery has got to go. Never understood "race-sponsor" liveries on privately owned cars. I think it's as tacky as putting a Dale Earnhardt 3 on a classic Monte Carlo.

Imagine being friends with you guys, not having an insane paycheck and then buying an old AMG on a 9 year carloan and crippling your financial status and praying someone picks up the tab because you ate Mcdonalds once that month instead of instant noodles so you have a -7$ food budget only to get absolutely mogged by everyone.

Nice vid OP. Out of all the cars, Im digging the Pista. Its got that understated elegance. Bang for the buck that white 570s is holding its own. I really never understood the carbon hood on a street car.
Nice collection of cars for sure. I used to do those types of outings when I first got my cars but I dont really dig the attention that comes with it. I take my cars out in smaller groups on Sunday morning blasts through the country roads here in Tx. Thats more my vibe.

Burn out was kind of a dbag move. Impressive driving skills but not the right place to pull that kind of stuff and thats why these types of things get a bad rap.

It is also a Weissach edition. As if you can make a hyper car and more awesome. Just has carbon everywhere. Even things you cant see. When you lift up the front bonnet, even the fender liners are carbon!

You are only seeing one car from each of the owners. You have zero idea what fills the rest of their garage. As I said most of these guys are car guys. And there are 3 or 4 of the guys with PLAIDS, so they are gapping everyone.

As for being a car guy myself, this is what my garage looks like right now. Lotus pulled apart. Santa brought a supercharger, clutch, light weight flywheel, full suspension bushings, and on and on. My son and I have been working on it during break. It is awesome to share these things with my son. It is 90% of the reason I got back into cars in the first place.

No one likes people that take two spots! I only drive the Lambo for fun. That said, we did 3000 'fun' miles last year. A few soccer practice runs and a grocery run now and again. My wife does not like the car so we dont take it many places, unless I can talk her into letting me drive it to lunch some days.

That is how the car came from Porsche. There is a lot of history and heritage behind that car. I agree with putting some stupid "3" on a car, but this is a true 'hyper car' produced by Porsche honoring it's race heritage w/ that livery. Very different when it comes on a car like that to me.

Burn out was kind of a dbag move. Impressive driving skills but not the right place to pull that kind of stuff and thats why these types of things get a bad rap.
Burn out was uncalled for agree. The restaurant does a lot to accommodate us and it should not have been done. We called the next day and apologized. Things got a little out of hand when all the cars started to roll out. We do dinners about once a month, sometimes more usually. Most times though it is 10-15 guys. WIth the holiday, we knew this would be one of the larger ones especially with everyone wanting to get out and enjoy the weather. We do mountain runs also. Lost my damn windshield on the last one a few weeks back!
