I voted democrat until I realized that they don't really support things they talk about. It's talking points and that's all. The politicians want power and control so they play to their base. I'm only seriously considering candidates that try and break that mold - otherwise you're simply voting for the financial interests that back them.

With that being said, there are two very clear lines in the sand between most dem and rep voters - the typical dem voter wants no gun rights and wants the first amendment changed. Those are hard lines for me.

And honestly there are legit only 2 reasons to vote Republican. Pro life and military spending. That’s it. I don’t agree with either of those, but those are really your only two arguments for voting R.
As an independent who doesn't care about abortion and thinks we spend too much on the military, and votes both ways, this is an absurd take and makes you look as nutty as the nuts you are talking about on the other side.

I don’t disagree with this. But the white family who makes sure to go to church every Sunday isn’t voting D unless god personally tells them.

There are established buckets of people who will vote D and R and won’t be swayed.

Democrats will never sway rural white America or religious die hards. Republicans will never sway young college educated individuals.

We spend too much and I'm pro-choice and a registered R.

+ Women's sex based rights. I know actual marxists who voted for Trump over Biden because of gender identity laws. Lot of politically homeless women out there. I know that this is important to you and that you genuinely care about why people make their choices, so I'm explaining to you why otherwise liberal, coastal, educated women are voting R.

Big government if it's our government

Free-er the market the free-er the people (except we will continue favoritism/subsidies because lobbyists)

Strong economy and jerbs (except we won't revert to sound fiscal policy because the temporary results would be unpopular for re-election)

Huge military spending cause the hardware looks cool

Israel is our greatest ally

I support the Bill of Rights but.....

Republicans are a byproduct of bigotry and low education. That’s why if you look at any study, you will see the more educated you’re the less likely you will vote Republican. This is also why Republicans try very hard to suppress votes, they know if everyone could vote easily, there would never be another Republican elected.

Republicans are the party of hillbillies and religious nuts.
I'd love to hear what you think republicans actually believe. Like a list of principals. Please compile and post so I have something to laugh at.

All your points are strawman arguments. They're actually reaching/probing for a strawman argument, and not even getting there, probably in hopes for a reaction. This thread is pathetic. Do your homework if you want an adult answer.

Being republican largely stems from a desire for fairness. Most I know refer to high tax rates for high income citizens. They already pay most of the taxes in the US, yet democrats want high income citizens to pay even more. Republicans also back the free market system and capitalism.

Democrats also are looking for fairness, but their sense of fairness is warped from coming from a disadvantaged point of view. Republican fairness is that everyone is equal, regardless of their income/class; whereas Democratic fairness is that the rich should be punished and the poor should be rewarded so that they end up cancelling out. Clearly, democratic policies use unequal treatment to obtain equity, whereas republican polices use equal treatment and condone lack of equity. Republicans generally value hard work and thinks hard work deserves more reward regardless of the type of person, whereas democrats value human welfare and thinks underprivileged people deserve more reward and privileged people deserve less reward regardless of how hard they work. As such, republicans have a distaste for laziness and mediocrity.

The other main republican mindset is valuing utilitarianism and practicality over instrinsic value and idealism. Republicans work with what they got and strive to make the best of their circumstances, whereas democrats reject their circumstances and yearn for fantasy. The practicality and utilitarianism of republicans opens the doors for unethical business practices, but maximizes profit and achieves much more than idealists. Idealists have higher potential, but that's all they have, they can't reach their potential because it's not practical and based on fantasy. This is where the idea of diversity fits in. Diversity has a lot of potential, because it can do a lot of different things, but is not guaranteed to make any progress. A highly-skilled team of people who all have the same abilities produces only a single thing in highly-focused manner that is guaranteed success. Any company with only one goal in mind should hire the team of experts rather than the diverse team. Some of the unethical business practices include hiring favoritism, lack of concern for the environment, and valuing profit over employee welfare.

Out of all the true republicans, not the trendy ones that hate democrats, these are 2 of the main constituents of their mindsets.
-fairness and equal treatment
-practicality and utilitarianism
Goals:

-stop being fat

Im not into politics at all but here is my perspective on some of your things:

You shouldn't have to go bankrupt for healthcare.
Something is definitely wrong with healthcare. Dont know enough about it but it shouldnt cost a million dollars a night to stay in the ER.

We have a first rate military but we are becoming a third world country
Becoming a third world country is all perspective. My quality of life hasnt changed for the worse from what I can tell.

I believe in Covid
Not sure what this means. Do people really believe COVID is fake?

I'm vaccinated with a booster
Cool. not really sure what the relevance of this is. If you choose to do it, good for you man. I also understand people who choose not to.

I didn't like trump and dont like biden
Im not iinto politics so I dont really know much about either of them.

saying "lets go brandon" tells me you have low iq points; not that i like biden it's just stupid
Theres a lot of "stupid" things in this world true

BlM riots were retarded ; january 6th riots were retarded
Agree

Employers should pay more, and pay a livable wage; unionize
Thats all relative too. Have you ever been an employer? Is there a defined and agreeable definition of what a "livable wage" means? The market will dictate what the pay should be (I guess that might be the republican stance?)

This whole thread is a strawman of Republican talking points.
Reason to vote Republican (not neocons)
I) reign in big tech censorship .
2) no CRT
3) bring back manufacturing to US (reign in globalism)
4)stop illegal immigration
5)stop mask mandates, vaccine mandates
6)refund the police
7)gun rights

3. individualize social security benefits, and healthcare via compulsory tax-free savings accounts. (singapore style)
4. be tenacious in eliminating corruption (pelosi should be jailed for the amount of money she has accumulated)
5. politicians are currently steering the FDA, I shouldn't need to elaborate on this.
6. the cost of your home should be a tax-deduction (repairs, mortgage payments, everything)

Basically, incentivize people to be better... The opposite of what our current system is heading for.
I'd agree for the most part. But would add/adjust a few things:

-no income tax on the people, bring back tariffs...we did it before, we can do it again
-strict term limits at every level of government, if you are a senator or congressman, you don't get a paycheck or benefits. You get room and board while you're in session, but overall your duties would have more of a school-board like structure.

Very true. I think the primary system of both parties brings out the extremes, along with heavily gerrymandering.

It may sound odd, but things would be more moderate if primaries were either all open or conversely not even open to the public.

If they were open, then independents would force moderation. If they were internally decided with no public voting, the parties would tend towards moderation because they could select someone more likely to win a general.

We get the people shouting nonsense instead which placates the wingnuts.

Is there a point in the pregnancy where it becomes not silly to make the comparison?

It's something I've thought about a lot over the years. I understand your statement and can see the logic in it. At the same time, I view the growing baby as a human life, and I understand where the strictly pro-life crowd is coming from, too. I've pretty much accepted that there are no easy answers on the subject that everyone will agree on. People's bedrock values just vary too much.

That's the thing, I totally agree with you and the pro-life crowd as well. I'm not sure. But I know that one is stupid and unproductive. I'd probably think differently if doctors didn't suck so badly at women's health tbh, for as long as gynecologists think it's too much hassle to use an ultrasound post IUD placement, I will be pro choice.

The republican( conservative) mindset is that we love our Country, hate to see it ruined by liberal policies that waste money and dont work, and bullchit social changes that dont need to be made. We are mostly happy well adjusted people who are content with the way the world works and will always work, unlike the left which is the complete opposite- a herd of unhappy, mentally ill people who actively try to tear down everything great or good in the world.

Yes, but it's still wacky. I have a great job with excellent insurance and am still paying off a surgery I had over the summer that was pre-approved and absolutely essentail. Then one of the hospitalists was out of network so I was billed for that, even though the hospital was in network. Also the anesthesia wasn't approved? It's such a mess.

Odd, I think it's the exact same thing.

I'm glad I've never been in a situation where I had to make a choice, however. Not sure I could choose to kill an unborn, but I think there's a time where it could be acceptable, like if no one wants to adopt it and there's no financial means to care for it, rape, etc. If it's out of just gross incompetence, I personally don't feel right about it. Probably needs to remain between the person and their doctor. But people make bad decisions all the time...like voting for Biden.

If it's the exact same thing, then the the trash can thing is acceptable if the mother was poor. Is that correct?
