I think we need a system that better acknowledges the role pure fate plays into everyone's situation and build in things to account for it so its more fair

The only better system would be a Nordic style socialism which requires: an abundance of resources to create wealth and a small, homogenous population. That is why it works in the Nordic countries, which is also now falling apart because of immigration.

It would never work in the US.
