Thats exactly what they do. Here in Maryland, if you're late on paying property tax your house can be up for auction as early as the next month. They don't f around here in Maryland.

house cost £410k now worth about £750-800K

have to pay £2k per year local tax for services

paid about £15k stamp duty/property tax when i bought it
