i hate ereaders and audio books
i mostly read non fiction and like to jump around and be able to see what the other chapers are easy. i much rather have a physical book than an ereader. I hate commuting so i always live close to work so there is no reason to listen to an audio book for 10 minutes
i used to love going to the library and bookstores as a kid.
bookstores got cucked though, basically like bestbuys, people go there to browse and look at things and then realize they can get it online for a lot cheaper. they are basically demo exhibits for their competitors like amazon. they cant possibly compete on price long term with all the extra overhead. theres no real way out, people are in their store looking up their competors prices on their phone.
you ever been inside a bestbuy these days, they look sad as hell, lights all dim, empty shelves, becoming a kmart, im surprised they are still around.

Bought a good number of books up through the mid 90's. Had an amazing library in MI. No such luck here.
I was a manager at a bookstore in 1998 which was bought out/shut down. And I thought at the time that the better way to go would be smaller stores w/comfy seating and food/drinks carrying the top sellers/most popular in store and then offering free in store pick up for the rest which could be in a less expensive warehouse space. B&N stores are 3 or 4 times larger than they need to be. If you are old enough to recall Waldenbooks they were a nice size.

i dont like audiobooks. the whole point of reading a book is to be immersed into the story, that immersion for me is not possible from listening to it on my airpods at the gym...
also dont like ebooks, very much prefer physical copies.

Can't do it with an audiobook.
Now, if you are talking about other kind of books, yeah, you right. I have some classics just because I like to see them (just like people buy decoration). "Art of War" for example. Those kind of books look good in the office.

I buy books for flights and for when I’m having a beach holiday, which is 1-2 times a year.
My job is technical and read boring stuff quite a bit at work so I don’t read in my social time generally.

I tried audiobooks and I didn't like it. Sometimes when I'm reading I'll go over a certain part a few more times if it has a great impact. I bet it would be a pain in the ass to do that with an audiobook

Worked as a PT for ... 6 months (lul) a few years ago. Thats the main cause for exercise hate.
Same happens with people that are forced to read/study **** that they don't like nor feel interested in. They grow up thinking that studying is boring when in fact, it isnt.
Other than that you sound like a great father doing a great job.

That guy is a brazilian orthopedist and sports doctor. Not to mention he is a lieutenant (army) and a businessman (owns his own clinic).
Intelligent + Athletic is he way to go.

I love reading books so much that if you and 50,000 other grindsets called me a cuck while sprinting on a treadmill, jabbing caffeine up your ass while listening to 4x speed audiobooks from some fraud about maximising productivity wouldn't phase me one bit

Maybe decades later such a day might come when finally the majority of the book readers use e-book-readers or listen to audiobooks, but right now not only readers but also authors and the book industry need income and they cannot ignore bookstores for that.
I am working as a content moderator for SNS company now but I had been working for the bookstore company for over 35 years. Still, the majority of readers are those who prefer real books to e-books/audiobooks.
Every media has its own merit, so why don't we enjoy those options while we can.
I myself exclusively listen to audiobooks, especially because I can even do that while jogging or cooking, but mostly due to my old sight, or reading with Kindle that allows me to change its font size.
But I still enjoy the smell, the sight of books all over the shelves in the stores and the excitement it gives me whenever I am browsing those bookstores.
