IMO there is something cathartic about owning a leather-back book. Having a library of classics that you’ve read is a pretty great feeling. Plus book stores tend to have a pretty good, chill vibe. I prefer it to kindle or audiobooks.

Yeah it's kind of an outdated thing but I still enjoy a good book from time to time.

So basically there is zero practical utility, it just makes you feel smarter having the physical copy/collection. Lol k

Listening to books =/= reading books

Digital books =/= physical books

They exist because they give people pleasure

Brah think about how much time you're wasting sitting down to read. Could go the gym, listen and kill 2 birds with one stone. Guess if that's how u want to spend your time tho u do u

I much prefer reading to audiobooks. I only listen to audiobooks when I'm forced to, like when I'm not that interested in the book but need to get through it for some reason. Then I'll listen to it while multi-tasking.

I totally thought this was going to be a thread about e-readers. Cuz I'm with you on that one!

Love my kindle paperwhite.

They're not really book stores, they're fronts for wh0re houses....

What you want to do is grab a book and sit down on a chair or couch. Pretend to read the book, but make sure the book is upside down, this signals the staff that you're interested in getting serviced.

Once they notice that your book is upside-down they'll escort you to the janitor closet and proceed to give you a handjob or bl0wj0b or full service depending on how much you tip...

One of my 7 year old favorite places. He spends most of his piggy bank there and has the clerk custom order him parts of series or books they don’t have that he wants.

I’m glad he is experiencing doing this.

Studies have shown that reading an electronic copy and listening to an audiobook provide the same level of reading comprehension.

Doesn't compare to a physical book though, it's just satisfying and has a lot of benefits.

You don't need electricity or high tech gadgets to read it, you can write in it and put in on your shelf/nightstand, and it just smells nice too.

That new book smell, or even that old book smell, it's just nice.

Plus of all the hobbies you can have, buying and reading physical books will actively improve your life in many ways, just like lifting weights.

Usually I download them for free in digital form or find the audiobook on youtube, because I haven't been able to afford books until now.

I like to read a physical book as I’m laying in bed every night instead of looking at a screen. Helps my sleep

I like bookstores because they are the safest place to go to when there is widespread looting and rioting.

Also, there's something about exploring books and coming across interesting titles. It's a peaceful and zen like feeling.

I have no clue how they're managing to stay afloat either. If you know where to look, you can find the vast majority of books online for free.

Book stores are still nice, and if it's a book that is going to serve more as a reference thing - then obviously a physical book is going to be much more preferable.
