Nothing the country leaders will do. The political leaders and big pharma want the citizenry to be unhealthy, as it makes them dependent on them both. But if one were to say that they actually did want people to be healthy, bring back civil service. Two years for everyone to learn self discipline and self respect

This. It's not an accident obesity is through the roof. High obesity rates = more medical bills, more money for medical care, more money for insurance companies and big pharma. Ever notice how the first action of 97% of doctors is to prescribe meds instead of other methods.

No way we fix obesity in this country until people want to make a change for themselves.

You can't out train a bad diet, 99% of the problem is calories

The Japanese cook raw healthy food for their public schools every single morning, it teaches teens to focus on that lifestyle(they legit eat 3-star restaurant quality lunches)

Funded by the government, citizens pitch in about $25/month

Remove Government entirely from food and health.

This means -- they no longer spend money to promote bullchit "food pyramids" which tell people to consume massive amounts of carbs and that fats are deadly.

This means -- they no longer subsidize nonsense crops like corn, so that it's so inexpensive they think of new ways to put it in everything, such as HFCS, which is one of the most toxic and disgusting food substances ever.

Doing that, things will solve themselves. Some people might still consume awful garbage but HFCS will no longer be cheap, farmers won't grow corn nearly as much, our animals will stop being fed unhealthy chit that's been cheapened by farm subsidies, animals will no longer have to be pumped full of antibiotics because they're eating slop not meant for them, no child will grow up believing fats are evil and that they must eat 11 or more servings of 'heart healthy' grains every day, etc, etc...

At that point, there is no health/obesity crisis. There are individuals and they can figure out chit for themselves without being blinded by fake science, bullchit studies, Government stooges and farmers being paid to grow bad foods shoved down their throats.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

It so obviously would be the GOAT... If you just eliminated road sections that are currently for cars, and designated them for bikes & pedestrians, people wouldn't drive. You can't even drive through LA now, so why not at least try it?

Cities should be designed like college campuses, not like a highway.

Figure out what is causing ones weight gain. We're all different in that respect. Some do well following a low carb diet.

Some simply eat more than they need.

Others do better avoiding other foods, such as red meat and dairy. I fall into that category. For what ever reason beef, pork and/or dairy products rapidly put weight on me. While fish and chicken do not.

Thyroid medication helps some people to lose weight.

The younger generation of American kids are truly fuked.

they sit in their house, get driven to school, sit there.... don't want to do any physical sports, and parents are less & less likely to encourage it. Ipad parenting, and legit just being a vegetable child is standard now. Parents won't even walk their kid to elementary school which is often less than a mile away..... AND no one even recognizes the hilarity of that.

bike infrastructure is WAAAAAAAY cheaper than car infrastructure, by miles... And that doesn't even include the benefit to society of actually moving your fat ass around as opposed to driving it around.

Once you've opened pandora's box, all there can be is the desire/will/discipline/determination to make a change. The last century's introduction of unhealthy convenient foods, coupled with sedintary labor, enforces higher body fat and obesity rates across all of the populace.

The solution now is to encourage the desire/will/discipline/determination. And to me the primary ways to achieve this are to discourage fat acceptance, increase education, and to provide financial incentive for consistency with a healthy diet and fitness.

Removal of sensitivities is the first step IMO. No more "plus size style" clothing, instead call it "morbidly obese style". Being morbidly obese is not a healthy alternative lifestyle choice, and it needs to be understood by all.

The thing is it isn't even obesity anymore there's different levels to it now. In 1980 the average person was probably 18% bf now it's like 32% or some chit but a lot of people are even higher than that. If people in 1980 woke up from a coma in 2022 they wouldn't believe their eyes

Its incredible how both the obesity rates and body fat percentages keep rising

I think social media just did something because most issues got much worse right when everyone got social media and smart phones

I recently transitioned from an active job to an office job. I used to just sit for 8-16 hours per day depending on the day. I’ve started going for at least a walk or two of about a mile each through the airport just to stay active and it really does make a difference for me mentally. Hopefully helps keep my blood pressure from getting too high but that remains to be seen.

Does it stay off long term though? Especially if these people aren't learning how to live a healthy lifestyle and eat a healthy nutritious diet?

that's my point.

there are more obesity deaths every single year than covid had in 2020 and 2021....

and if we're being honest, most "covid deaths" were just expedited obesity deaths.

Communicate the following repeatedly to the public:

-small meals throughout the day should be rare, not all/most days
-occasional water only fasting for adults is overall the healthiest thing a person can do (not just weight loss)
-young men who aren't on gear shouldn't eat 5000+ calories a day for gains
-don't buy stuff labeled low-fat
-if you're a healthy person and don't feel hungry, don't eat just because others are
-at restaurants with huge portions (most) take a doggy bag home or order an appetizer as your meal

Also:
-ban high fructose corn syrup, just like trans fats were, for the same reasons.
-aware the public that obese people are super spreaders of respiratory viruses, not just Covid.
-fat shaming works
-no soda machines in schools
-no more candy or soda can be bought with food stamps
-schools that have 0-1 gym days every week lose federal funding
Yeah Buddyyy! Light weight! Light weight baby!!!!

people in the USA will drive 1 mile to buy a lime without even noticing how absurd that is.

Amsterdam/Netherlands uses bike paths and pedestrian paths as a priority over streets for cars. They are literally eliminating roads and replacing them with parks, paths, and pedestrian areas.

Now we have E-bikes available, so even a fat fuk useless american could easily get 40 miles without breaking a sweat, while still being forced to use SOME cardio capacity.

Look at this.... You could send ur fat kid to school on a bike, they could see their friends on a bike, you could ride to the store on a bike.... You could do work commutes on bike, etc etc etc etc.

That is great and true but it would take about 500 years to accomplish.
